« on: August 02, 2009, 12:16:56 PM »
I've had my oldest chinchilla for only 3 years...she's been by her self for that long.... i don't have many animals that are cute and cuddly ... but anyway have you ever had your :flames: chinchilla urinate on you or through a stream at you because you touched another chinchilla that he or she didn't like 2 much... for some reason i have this problem  :-\ that if shes See's another chinchilla she just starts ripping her own hair out like she's a basket case ::scaredspeachless::  :doh:does any one else have this problem? and how in the world do you fix this problem?   I THINK SHE'S A BIT Jealous OR CRAZY either or.

well i recently went out to look for something that  would cover the outside of the cage and the only thing i could find besides galvinised aluminum which if any one didn't know will kill your pets if ingested IT IS PIOSONES, i will post more resent pictures when im done with the cage and tell me what you think?  i am putting screen around the bottom half and im going to screen in the doors so i don't have to look for them any more ..... i know i have to look for them at least 5 times a day ..its getting old.. going chinchilla hunting and all.....but when they did get out they are always in the same spots....thanks about the fish hes pretty cool..but eats a lot of food.......he comsumed 24 feeder fish last night and i just bought them, i think they eat out of bordum or something.....but if you go on to the youtube site and type in the African lung fish you will find a documantary thing that will show where their at, how they survive without water and if you happen to look they can live up to 4 years without water in the wild.......well i have to go so i can finish this giant cage so i can put everyone back  .......ill post picts soon so stay updated ........and ill take better pictures and can you tell me what their color may be im not quite sure but I WILL SEE YOU AROUND  ;)

i was a previous ferret owner in the past and i had to part with them and i was heart broken but honestly you should do whats in the best intrest of the animal and some times you have to make some really hard choices but in the end they generally go the way you would like but unfortunately for me i gave them to a large ferret rescue ass. and about a year later the police were removing hundreds of dead and starving ferrets from the previous ......it was a sad day for me because that's where my ferrets went it broke my heart and it still does i just hope they were strong enough to make it out alive it still bothers me to how people can be so cruel to the Innocent.  ::cry222:::

i don't know much about breeding but i have read books about them and i did the research over the internet and Ive discussed it with a vet when i took my mother in law there because her mastiff has cherry eye and that's when she discovered the juvenile cataracts ...but i research every animal i own to the point i know more than the people at the pet store.  if you see the fish tank in the picture we have this fish its called and African lung fish if you look them up they can live in a dry mud brick for up to 7 years and they can breath oxygen in and out of water..he is neat he has 4 what look like tentacles but he can actually use then to walk per-say..i read up on hem and what some people believe he is one of the links to evolution but who really knows.......if anyone  is curious to know what I'm talking about if you don't already know look them up ..........sorry to go way off subject but some times i get carried away in the moment when its a subject about my kids or my animals......any one have any interesting stories about their experiences with chinchillas and their young.

i don't know exactly how bug the wires are but its a 2 story cage the bars are metal like a exotic bird cage its gray and silver , it has the option to separate any one from the other i have pictures ill post but when you separate them there is one ladder that goes to a level and it has a metal hook that you can just simply click into place and then i put the cooling rock over top the hole so my 3 yr old gizmo can't see them .........I'd have to say shes a bit jealous but i have a picture of the male /mother who had the kits and i have a picture of one of the kits the others a bit shy.....but back to the cage the kits can come out through the bars i have to retrieve them each morning and throughout the day when ever they get wired for sound...but here is some pictures of them ill post a picture of the light gray color one later when i take get around to it..........enjoy

on the 9th of June me and my husband went to the pet store to shop around for my 3 yr old chinchilla GIZMO, and while buying food  treats and etc.... well my husband asked me if i wanted a male chinchilla on the hopes that they might get along and eventually their would be babies.  well we bought him and took him home and i tryed to let them adjust to each other, but they didn't.....so... i had to separate them in their cage which is a 2 story giant ferret cage with levels and ladders etc....well the male i had gotten that day was just laying everywhere didn't want to move just lay their. well the next morning i went to check on the MALE and i was half asleep in the morning i glanced in the cage to check on him and when i looked in their at him that's when i realized that there were 2 animals in their which resembled baby mice did you know that the chinchilla that i bought wasn't a MALE IT WAS A FEMALE  which had babies the next morning i was baffled i called up the pet store i bought him/her to let them know my good news, they were shocked they wanted to know if i wanted to bring them back for another...... I of course said NO.. because the people obviously didn't know what they were talking about..............so now i have 2 females and 2 babies from the male  ;D   it i admit was a great thing i bought him/her because when i called up their to the pet store the person i talked to was running around asking the owner how a male chinchilla could give birth...as they replied THEY CANT..........................................in all reality it was their loss and my gain the mother and babies couldn't be happier............I just had to tell the story because its pretty wild.........anyone ever had this happen to them?
