Title: Next Chat Time

Our last chat night was a blast!  For those of you who missed it we started at 9:30 pm EST and when I left at 11:30 pm people were still chatting!  We had a great time.

So now its time to plan our next chat date.  What day(s) and times work best for you?  Don't forget to include your time zone when suggesting a time.

Also, please let me know if you prefer open chat where we talk about anything and everything or subject nights where we have a planned topic to discuss.  If you choose to have a topic what are some topics you'd like to learn more about??

I think that the times we had were perfect especially for those of us that had 2 legged kids it gave me enugh time to get them settled so I could mess around with my computer to chat (really I was trying to get on at like 8:30)
I like the open topic but special topics like the basic ones are great too so those who are new owners can learn more from the experienced ones on feeding, housing, habits,ect.  that way every one is able to talk too.
 ::silly::I still can't get this guy on my avatar I love him for some reason now I am only getting to the question mark blinking red and blue  :'(

Chatting is always fun! rofl  I was talking to Fluffball and then all of a sudden...I couldn't find her ::shrug::  Sorry I lost you....I didn't cut you off.  (Fluffball and I were the last ones on!.....late night owls ::nod::)

that is ok I was just typing away and didn't see you reply thought we got disconnected or something next time I ended up going to bed early last night  at like 1:30 new record for me had troube though you can email or im if you want to talk anytime I know it is hard to do with little ones

I was laughing so much, Bill ask me if we were all adults or mostly kids ... I ask him ... Mentally, Physically or Emotionally?  He just laughed, shook his head and left the room. rofl

Next chat session, I hope to be able to stay on longer.   ::nod::

I didn't realize that this many people visit during the day.  Maybe we should try a morning chat?  Once school starts next month I will have alot of morning time on my hands...

Yes! Morning or afternoon chat would be wonderful! I usually don't get on the computer at night, and I would love to participate.

Maybe even a weekend chat one day in the afternoon.  :::grins::

Late mornings or early afternoon would work best for me (I live in Mt standard time). 

Also, I would like to see different topics, because it seems like all I read are of shortened lives and health issues.

Doesn't anyone have chinnies that have been around for years, and have been in good health throughout those years?

My oldest chinchilla is 14.  She was in breeding until last year.  She is still very healthy and loves to run on her wheel.  She actually could have continued breeding (She is a great monther) but we felt it was time to retire her.

We couldn't do the chat night last night because our chat thing doesn't work and it was a little late to be on the computer. I guess we don't have Java. and, ours said it didn't start until like 8:30! So if we get Java we would like it to start around maybe 6:00 pm for central

not sure about mornings cause once school starts I take mine to the bus stop at 8:00am est Chandler is starting kindergarten full day (love it) and Amber will start preschool at 12:30 and between then maybe if I have time but I usually try to clean the house for when hubby get home cause then he won't have anything to complain about  or I will do grocery shopping either while Amber is in preschool she goes 3 days a week this year 12:30 - 3:00 est  and sometimes I talk with the other moms while they are in preschool very busy time for me but I love the quiet time  :::grins:: :::grins:: :::grins:: :::grins:: :::grins:: :::grins:: :::grins::

I loved chat-night, But because I'm in school (I'm 14 remember) I can't do mornings expect on week-ends  ::sadtears::. Also i went on at 9:30 (our power went out so i couldn't get on earlier) till about 11:00. ::nod::

::silly::Looks like we need to schedule different chat times morning/afternoon/evenings/weekends.   :-\

We can do it, but everyone would have to be patient for the time that is best for them.    ::) 

The amount of participation would determine if we can continue each particular chat time.

Jamie ... think we could schedule one or two a week?  Or have a particular schedule set up for regular chats every month?

(Just as an example: one for the second weekend of the month/  third Tuesday /  the 9th /  30th / and so on)

 Any other suggestions, anyone?

Sure, but we would need a few people that could be moderators because I won't be able to make each one.  I don't think we have any trouble makers here but its always good to have someone with the ability to moderate and kick people out just in case someone joins the chat and starts trouble. 

Anyone who wants to agree to be a chat moderator is welcome to host a chat.  We can then list it on the Forum calendar.  The only rules you need to remember as moderator is to keep the chat room friendly and family-friendly (age appropriate for the people chatting)  I will be Happy to meet anyone in the chatroom to upgrade their chat abilities and show them how to moderate.  Once you take the ::hah:: "class" you are ready to host your own chat.  :)

I can be a moderator on Tuesday nights....that is when Jim is out of town.....so I can stay on the computer all night if I want to! ::nod::       From 9:00 pm  until....! ::banana::

Moderators MUST be adults ... sorry, adults-to-be, but responsibility for a chat room will have to be carried by an adult.   ::taunt::

    The more volunteers we have to be chat room moderators, the more diverse we can be with times we can have chats.   ::nod::
    If you have a special time you would enjoy being in the chat room, like Sweetnessheart on Tuesday night ... that would the time you would like to volunteer for moderating ... wouldn't you??  Now, come on, we need more volunteers! 
    Keep in mind ... it can be once a month or any number of times you know you can be there.
They can be on a special subject or just general chat or both.  Moderator sets the topic.

Jo Ann you got it all correct!  Thanks for posting that for me. 

Now anyone that wants to moderate just email with a time you'd like to meet in the chat room to go over moderation tasks.  Also you need to register your name with the chat room so that I can upgrade you to moderator.  I will try to leave the forum loaded while I am on the computer so you can see when I am on-line.  If you catch me on just email me and I'll meet you in the chatroom.

It sounds like you guys has a blast.
With more chats at different times it would give us outside your times zones a better chance at taking part.
I do my chins from 9:30-midnight most nights, our time.I get online for  a spell before then, or late afternoons.

Evenings work best for me.  I work during the day and have kids to put to bed.  So 9:00 pm would work best for me.  I'm in MA.  Thanks guys.

Well, with school starting up again, I would like to have it on the weekends. Maybe a sunday night at 6:00(central). Doesn't everyone have Sundays off?

We also have java now, so we will be able to chat! hopefully... :-[

The last chat started at 9 and went well into the night, so if you can't make it at the beginning, you can jump in late.   ::nod::

So far we have "a Sunday night 6PM" Central Time
"Tuesday, August 22nd at 9PM" Central Time
Week day mornings Eastern Standard Time
noon to 3PM weekdays Eastern Standard Time

Any other definite dates and/or times?   I can set up a poll.
 I'm pretty open for any time or date.

I voted for the Tuesday 8/22, it's way easier for me to plan if I have an actual date. I missed the last one :(, and am looking forward to this one. :blush2: Do I have to do anything to be able to join in? Or do I just go on when you're all there?

David ( my hubby) is having neck pain that won't go away. I finally got him to go to the doctor yesterday, eight x-rays later, we find out he has a bad disk in his lower neck.  He starts physical therapy- traction today. By the time I got home, and everyone settled in..............I FORGOT  :doh: all about chat time! :::(((
I guess I'll have to try for the next time. And I really wanted to be there :doh: :doh: :doh:
