Hello. My name is Annie, and I live in the desert. I have one Chinchilla and a number of other pets. I came to this forum so I could learn how to better care for my chin. :)

::silly:: Hi Silly Chinchilly,
Welcome to the forum! There's always lots to learn about a chinchilla. ::nod::
Is it a male or female?
What color is it?
How old is it?
Did you get it from a breeder, a friend or a pet store?
Pictures, please! :::grins::

Welcome!! We are glad to have you!

He's male, standard gray, and my cousin gave him to me. We figure he's about 2.5 years old. He was at some animal shelter she worked at and was on the *to be euthanized* list for the end of the day if nobody took him.
here's a pic of him: (I hope, I'm terrible with computers) (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e315/LadyArya4/ares.jpg)

Welcome to the forum!
What's your chin's name? It was so sweet of you to save his life!!

Good for your cousin for saving him and giving him to you. I have saved I dont even know how many chins from our shelter, for one so they dont become euthanized, and for two because I dont want just any random person adopting a chinchilla because they think they are cool and different, and because its only 50 bucks to adopt at our shelter, anyone can go and get one when they normally wouldnt bc of their normal prices.
It just worries me like that. I dont know why. Ive seen people who have no idea what a chinchilla is go into a shelter and just adopt it bc they can "actually" afford it this way. And Ive also seen them bring the chin back too because they were too much for them to handle and they didnt know how much they needed to know to care for one.
But Congrats on him. He sounds really nice and he looks handsome. Good Luck with him and we are all here if you have any questions!! :::grins:: :::grins::

Mr. Chin's name is Ares, but neither Aaron (my fiance) or I like it. We're thinking about changing it to Hobbit. Aaron brought it up because he sort of reminds us of one. :)
My cousin actually brought him to me because she was totally in love with him but her hubby said *NO MORE* like the tough man he thinks he is. They actually moved to some place in Canada with their chin on Wednesday, which is another reason she went ahead and got him, as an *i'll miss you* sort of thing.

Sounds like hes trying to be the "man" and wear the pants in the relationship. My fiance tries that too, but it hasnt worked because I now have 18 chins. Hahaha.
