My best friend has a Chin too . She had been let her Brother in law house sit so he could take care of the animals the few days she was going to be gone.

Apparently He is a pot smoker and had Jester out this afternoon while he was smoking his stuff and wasnt paying attention . Jester got into the bag and is believed to have eaten some of it .

He did tell her when she got home and she is totally freaking out and isnt sure if he will be ok . so far he isnt acting any differently and seems fine but it hasnt been all that long since it happened .

Is there any information on what she should do in this case? I told her I would come up here and ask and let her know as soon as anything is posted.

Well He hasnt brought blood though He has moved my fingers with his mouth but even that bite didnt hurt but I knew He wanted his space at that moment.

I still havent been able to pick him up and the only time I can get him out of the cage is when I hold up the big plastic ball and he hops in ready to go for a roll but he gets so excited when I come over to the cage to play and bounces all around then nuzzles my hand followed by more bouncing . I think he does it because it makes me laugh.

still has a facination with my hair and nibbles it and my finger nails. Though the chewing on my nails has lessened since we got new lava bites .

I do have another question.

When my boyfriend goes to the cage (He is just now starting to do this ) He puts his hand up there and Chico sniffs then starts this digging like motion with his little hands at His fingers. is this pushing him away?

As some of You know I am a first time chin owner . Well My little guy has been wanting to chew on EVRYTHING. the cage , me (and not little soft nibbles) and is facinated with my hair and finger nails if my head gets close enough he is chewing on my hair . I reach in to give him a treat or a scratch he takes the treat enjoys a scratch and goes right for my finger nails or tries to chew on my finger.

We have lava bites in there for him but he isnt interested in them and is interested in chewing everything else.

any one got any suggestions?

Hi everyone thank you for allowing me to join this forum.

My husbands little sister purchased this male chin from petco about 4 months ago then decided he was too much trouble . I have always wanted one so I said I would take the little guy. He is pretty tame when he was brought over her boyfriend took him out of the carrier and sat him on his shoulder while we got his cage set up for him .

I let him calm down yesterday for most of the day then last night started working with him slowly by letting him smell me and explore my hand and sniffed noses with him through the bars . I have a gentle border collie mix that immediately took to the little critter and i have observed them over the last few days sniffing noses together through the bars . I really dont think smokey(my dog) will ever hurt him but im always careful.

today my little chico chalupa (thats the chinchillas name ) starts perking up when i go in the room and stands up and gets playful when i come in and bounces around and goes to the door of his cage . so i open it and he comes half way out and sniffs my hand and nibbles at my rings and fingers real gently (love nibbles) but he doesnt just come out onto my arm and im a little skiddish about picking him up just yet .

i am getting so attached to him already and im just wanting to know right now if there are any signs that i need to look for to tell me its ok to pick him up yet . i have read about all the warning signs of dont pick me up but are there any for picking up . the closest we have gotten is he will come out and sit in both my hands for a few seconds then hops back in the cage .

any help will be appreciated.
