Cages / Re: Lets Talk about cages!!
« on: August 30, 2007, 10:48:25 PM »
The second story of my cage was solid-except for a 12 inch by 12 inch(approx) opening. I had the tiles against the 3 solid sides. The tiles were too large to fit through the opening and also, the tiles were at least 2 inches thick. My rex rabbit who has the tiles in her cage now, cannot even move them. This was my personal experience, and because the cage was difficult to thoroughly clean, I dismantled it and no longer use it.

I had a cage that had a second story and I just put several tiles over the wire. This way they were not always on wire, and the tiles also gave them a cool resting area!

General Chat / Re: Rescue Chinchilla?
« on: August 27, 2007, 10:21:56 PM »
I know this thread is a few weeks old, but I had to reply. Do you know how often people let chins go when they decide they no longer want them? Believe me, it happens more frequently than a person would expect. One of my girls, Essie, was found running around downtown. In the same week, there was an ad on Portland Craigslist asking the owner of a "found chinchilla" to contact the person who found a chin running around their neighborhood. I was just reading on another forum about a chin that was found wandering around outside. Thank you for rescuing the poor guy! How does he look now? Essie is still a petite little girl. I don't know what on earth would possess someone to just let any pet go out on its own.

Thank goodness my chin Ande is not the only couch potato! He cannot wait for his stick at night so he can enjoy his "chinnie popcorn" while watching tv with us! He gets very upset if the movie starts before he has his nibbly!

Hello! I have a virtual chinchilla addiction  rofl and also have many real critters. I have a small animal rescue with most of my current residents being geriatric furries and fuzzies. I have 4 chins-a p/w male, 2 standard females, and a mosaic female. [/size]
