I was just wondering where the Canadians on this board purchase their feed. I am looking to find a reliable supplier of a high quality brand of pellet such as Oxbow or Mazuri.

My cage spaces are .5"x1". But I still feel there is a risk for injury, personally. I have no doubt that many people have never experience an injury as long as they have had CHins. But I guess it is personal perfences as you suggest. Also, when I get a second chin, I don't want one chin to pee on lvl 2 which falls through the wires on the chin below! lol
My chinny has the floor bottom which is solid and cardboard for now as rest areas.
Tiles are a great suggestion. I will consider this, thanks Ebengston!!

I am not 100% sure if Chins get this...but rats and rabbits for example can develop bumblefoot because of walking on wires. Of course its easier for them to develop this when they live in damp conditions, which won't be happening with my chinny. Also, for comfort reasons, personally I do not want my chin to walk on wire all day. There is also the risk of catching their feet in the wire and breaking a leg. My cage spaces are not large, I could have hammies in my cage and they wouldn't get out... but there is still a chance of catching in the wire spaces.

Hi There Everyone!! I hope you are all well!! 
I have some questions regarding cages. What is a good cage size for 1 and also for 2 chins?
I have a 24" x 14" x 36" cage. 2 ramps, 1 balcony and 1 full middle floor! I have 1 chinny.
I need to cover my middle floor with something, preferable not wood as its not really cleanable. Any suggestions?
Do you guys have any advice on what makes a great cage?
Any pictures?

Hi Sillychinchilly, welcome to the forums! And Congrats on the new Chin!!!I am a new owner myself! There is so much to learn about these little guys eh!!
I guess I have my bf well trained! LOL He asks me everything regarding the pets, especially our new chinny! lol
I hope your bf can resolve this habit! People food is not dog friendly either as its often too fatty, or even toxic. Feeding table scraps can lead to obesity, digestive disorders, begging, stealing and finicky eaters for a few examples!
I realize we are talking about chins here, but proper nutrition for all animals is just one of those things that I feel is essential!! I hope I did not offend you!

Righteousrouse - thats so wonderful you took the poor little chinny in. Lucky you were driving by!
Asikovsek - quick question regarding getting them out of the cage. I noticed you said just let them come out of the cage. I don't have this option as my cage is in my living room with the AC and all the wires of the TV and PCs! Is using the bathhouse as a "teleport" from cage to play area and back acceptable?
I find it very interesting that they change their behavior. Not something I expected!!

Health / Re: Exercise a Danger For Young Chins?

Thanks for the excellent responses! I completely agree that exercise is a must for any creature to keep healthy. I exercise my chinny in the kitchen, as there is NO wires, and she can't fit behind or under the large appliances like the fridge. We made sure of that. Plus its a pretty big space.
Our AC is in the living room (which is where her cage is) and is right beside the kitchen. The kitchen is not hot in the evenings, but we wouldn't let her run about if its warm anyway. Still have to pick up some sort of thermometer tho. The right temp for chins is not above 25°C (77°F) right?
Question regarding the harness - I read that CHins have fragile bone structures and than a harness would easily fracture a rib. This must not be so, if you can use a harness with yous than. I have found so much contradicting info. *sighs*

Debbie - I was born in Nova Scotia and lived there most of my life, but have been living the past 3 years in New Brunswick. However, due to education I have been bouncing between NS & NB! lol Its a pleasure to meet you too I have never been to Newfoundland unfortunately!
I have one standard grey 3 mos old female. I purchased her from a local private animal needs store. They also are closely linked with a local shelter, and sell the shelters pets. My Chin was sold to this store from a breeder who was getting out of the business and moving from the city.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I hope to be around as much as possible, however I am limited in my time starting this september. I am a student in a Pre vet program, with hopes of getting into vet school in at least 2 years.
I would love to share photos of my beautiful little girl!
