General Chat / Safe and Unsafe woods. (question)

Hi there!

I understand most the safe and unsafe woods (hands down)
but....
one has me in confusion...

Douglas-Fir tree. Come to find out it's "unsafe" yet, I am finding tons of CHINCHILLA toys made out of that wood!!!
 
I've had a chinchilla for three years and he's had many toys now from "Douglas-Fir" and today I was researching and never noticed that and found out it's a toxic wood to them.

Let me tell you, I feel like the worst person in the WORLD!!!!! Because he is my baby and I will do anything and everything to keep him happy.

Now, it confuses me because he's NEVER been ill or acted ill or hurt. :0 So is it a toxic wood? 

So I guess I am asking for other thoughts and what you know?

General Breeder Chat / BABIES <3

Hello,

So my chinchilla had two babies and they are now 3days, however the runt is having some issues with mom. She is able to nurse, but mom tends to push her away after that. Mom favors the other baby more. Mom also cleans the babies like normal but she seems to bite the runt and it tends to scream a lot. I am not sure what to do, I don't want to have to take her away from mom but at the same time I do worry a lot.
Any advise will be amazing!!!!

Hey all,
My chinchilla is getting close to having her kits, and of course her behavior is changing. Although, she knows how to confuse a person! One day, she isn't really wanting to move around, the next shes playing and just okay. I was wondering what your chinchillas who are close might do and how their behavior changes.

Hello, 

I just joined and I am a chinchilla pet owner...and now a breeder....I guess (just adopted a breeding pair). Each of my chinchillas have their own cage, well the breeding pair share their cage, and I now have a nursery cage.
They have probably to many toys, I have two mini dressers filled with chinchilla things. (but that's okay )

Anyways, I just want to help, learn, and get to know other chinchilla owners and what they do!
