So I've been looking at different kinds of treats for my chin. I saw the Sunmaid dried fruit and was wondering if it was ok for him to eat.

Just one tiny piece every now and then.

sugar is something you dont want to use too often for treats.. some safe ones are: non frosted cheerios, and non frosted shredded wheat.. at your local grocery store..

Rasins, dried bananas, and dried apples are all ok! :::grins::
But if i remember correctly, any fruit with a pit (sutch as peaches and apprecots) is not ok.
I dont know about citrus fruits (like pinapples and oranges) or melons (do they even make dried melons? ::think:: )

Just make sure to give them a tiny piece if you want to give a treat. ;) Once a week or a teeny tiny piece once a day, is okay.
If you give too much of treats or too often, you can have issues with their tummies like diarrhea or constipation among other things. I wouldn't recommend citrus fruits or melons. Treats that people have given that are okay in moderation, are raisins, dried apple or dried bananas as mentioned before. :)
Break or cut it up into smaller pieces. While our tummies do fine with treats, our tummies are also much bigger than a chinchillas. So what may seem a tiny amount of sugar in a treat to us and our digestive tracts, can be too much for them with their little digestive tracts. It is why moderation is so important when it comes to treats.

Raisins are great from the grocery store, but when you starting adding, I dunno, dried banana chips, papaya, dried apples, buy the ones specifically made for chinchillas - they somehow pull out some of the sugar, because dried chinny banana chips taste ... bad... but chinnies love them. Definately, no citrus food, like Lilchinchilla mentioned, it causes tummy problems - bloats the little guys up. Go to www.rondaschins.com and look under treats, they have a great selection of healthy stuff and she is very reasonable.
