Q & A / Re: Identifying Gender.

Thank you. I'll get a second opinion from either a breeder or my local vet soon.

What made us doubt was the fact that she was trying to go on top of the other chinchilla. Was she just trying to be dominant?

Thank you for your help though :).

Hello, I'm new on the forum and I would need some advice.

I've got two chinchillas. One 7 year old female (Standard) and one 2 year old female or male (Beige).

I got my beige chinchilla a year ago from a couple who told us she was a female. Both chinchillas never liked each other so we kept them in two cages. It's been 2 months that they both decided to be friends and are really getting on! :) Patience is a virtue!

However, we started having doubts about the beige chinchilla being a female. I had 8 chinchillas in total and to be honest, I'm not sure if this chinchilla is female or male.

My beige chinchilla tried to climb on top of the other one just a few times but not all the time. To be honest, comparing to the male chinchillas I had before, I'm not sure...

I'll take pictures tonight or tomorrow.

If you could give me your opinion, it would be helpful as I'll know if they can live together or if I'll have to bring him/her to the vet to be neutered.

Thank you in advance.
