General Chat / Re: Having a hard time finding Chinchillas

As far as I know, there aren't many rules against bringing in exotic animals as long as it isn't an invasive species. I know that I must secure the proper permits and pay the fees which aren't that expensive but beyond that I know next to nothing. I would probably be wise to do research before I attempt anything. I found a breeder on the internet today and he sells Chins at price range of 200 to 300 dollars.

Hello everyone,

I've been searching for Chinchillas here in the Philippines but of to no avail. I know it seems like an ambitious plan but I want to bring in a pair of Chins from another country. For people who've already gone through this, I'd really appreciate your input & suggestions to my idea.

Cheers,

Josh

would it be ideal to use wood shaving for this particular cage?

Thanks again, GrayRodent!  :::grins:: While I'm at it, should I get the Critter nation double unit instead?

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be getting a Chinchilla soon and I wanted to get some advice about the kind of cage I should keep him in. I've been looking around Petco.com and I found this cage http://www.petco.com/assets/product_images/0/080605618572D.jpg
I like this one because of its size, I can really imagine it fitting well in a corner of my bedroom (dimensions: 37.8" L X 22.4" W X 22" H of the cage size: Large) on the otherhand, something like this would also be good in my bedroom http://www.petco.com/assets/product_images/0/027773010135D.jpg (dimensions: 36" L X 24" W X 39" H
Wire Spacing: 1/2") I really can't decide which one to get.

@GrayRodent, I breed Hedgehogs :) In the Philippines Hedgehogs are a little more common now but when I got into Hedgies 3 years ago, people haven't even heard of the word hahaha I also recently started breeding Cockatiels but of to no success as I had to put all my plans on hold for the mean time. As for your second question, I'm still not quite sure what colors of Chins I'm after but I'm pretty sure I want something like a Standard maybe some Mosaics, and Violets as well.

Hello everyone!

I'm a new member from the Philippines. I got into Chinchillas a little over a month ago through finding out about them on the internet as it's a hobby of mine raising & breeding exotic animals. If there are any breeders from the Philippines, I hope you guys make contact! :D

Cheers,

Joshua
