Q & A / Hoping to make a chinchilla skin salve

My chinchilla Snickerdoodle has dry ears and feet. We've had this problem for quite awhile, but I haven't yet found a solution. I was wondering if I could make my own chinchilla salve out of ingredients like coconut oil, mango butter, peppermint essential oil, (for cooling feelings-- I'd use very little), neem oil, and beeswax. Are these ingredients safe? I would make sure he wouldn't be eating it.

That's funny that your chin learned to avoid the box. Every week, when I change the bedding, I put Doodle in his carrier, which he hates. Yet every week he's curious to jump on it and explore--- only to be alarmed when i gently push him in!  ::phhhhhhth:: ;) rofl

I found this link. There are a few on the page I think. Would you say that these homemade treats would be safe for chinchillas? Also, can I give Doodle a lick of pumpkin puree sometimes? My mom buys tons of cans of the stuff!

4 raisins? That is FAR too many! Are the stools runny? Do not give him any more raisins until he seems to be better.

Yes, Doodle lets me as well :) Sometimes he opens his eyes but doesn't move, and when I start petting him, he closes his eyes again. Of course, that may be because I pet right near his eyebrows... But I like to think he's enjoying it :D
