Now, I did read somewhere that reading to puppies, kittens, and other baby animals aids in the bonding process. So I decided to try this on my baby chin.
Gallardo loves it! I just lay out on the floor by his cage and pop open a childrens book and he comes up to the cage over by me all exicted and happy. I honestly do believe that me reading to him has allowed us to form a bond. It may be a little and small bond but soon, it will be the greatest bond ever!
Has anyone else considered this technique for bonding and tried it?
I reccommend it!

No, i have not tried it but it sounds interesting. I will try it with Tucker.

I haven't tried it with Pippin, but I do have conversations with him. I used to read to my parrot when he was young, and use his name for the main characters name, he loved it. I should try it with Pippin as well and see if he likes it.

My Daughter sings to pur Chins every day. She can call and they come, she sits and they are all over her! :::grins:: I am not sure if it is your voice, the attention, or the fact that you care enough to do this regularly, but I am certain that the regular interaction DOES help bonding!
The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know ???

I have been reading to Gallardo when I wake up in the morning and he has been falling asleep to it.

I've never heard of trying that, but Delilah responds to me talking to her and whenever I sing a little song (Yes, I do make up songs to the tune of that one song 'Hey there, Delilah') but I'll have to try it tonight before I go to sleep. After all, they do act just like children!

Oh that is so adorable! My daughter and I also sing to our 4 chins.....as well as do a little dance...to the tune of morning it goes like this: "A chinny chin chin..a winny win win..We're saying Good Morning to the chinny chin chin" and then of course before bed is "We're saying good night to the chinny chin chin"... :2funny: I must say they watch very closely and probably think we are completely out of our minds...but it is all in good fun... ::silly::..My daughter is only 4 so we are a couple of goof balls! :D

My 13 year old daughter take every (and I mean EVERY) song and turns it into a chin song...with hilarious results! :2funny:

AND, I completely agree with the statement that Chins are just like kids...they SO are!! especially with new toys or when I revamp their cages to shake things up a bit! ;D

That is a great idea. I know just the book to read to my little guys too!
And not that i have kids but i'm a nanny and i do agree that chins are like kids.
I wonder if my kitties would like a story, but i don't think they would stay still long enough for one.

They are like children! They love new things, just like kids!

I read to snowie while he was out and he of course wanted to eat it, but by the time i was done he was in his cage and asleep. but that only happened the first time.

I tried this with Herby, with my devotions in the morning, and he has a spot in his cage he likes to stretch out next to me on and will actually get upset if I miss it in the morning lol. Its actually a great process for us and has really helped our bond. Thanks a bunch for the suggestion!
