Q & A / Re: Need advice pretty quick.....

It was kinda weird. She didn't seem to mind the water too much. She just jumped back out and started to shake off. Then I guess there was a but of sand left in the carpet after we vacuumed their room, and she started to roll in it like a wet dog does.

I was kinda nervous introducing them. I had read on some other sites of a few horror stories of introduction. Nothing ever too major, but we all like to keep the peace in out homes. She made some vocalizations that were pretty sad to hear, but she has stopped since. Im considering breeding her at some point because she is a sapphire carrier. But we will see.

I was ignorant and bought my first chin from a pet store chain, and it took about 2 months just to get to pet her.. The new one i got, it came from a breeder and its fairly tame already.. lessons learned. you got lucky for sure

I saw a pic of a playroom and they used cardboard laying against the wall so that they couldnt chew on the wall. wouldnt be too hard for you to move either.

never use cedar, as far as i know, use aspen or kild dried pine. I use the pine, I buy 7 cubic yards for $6.

I think it is called " chinchillaitis "... As many as you know, I have been searching high and low for another chin to save, well no luck as of yet.. Over the past few months I have noticed that my one and only chin, has become lazy, and moping around her cage. I decided it was time for a new friend...I found a local breeder about 20 miles away and I took one of his females from him.. She is a traditional gray, but she is a sapphire carrier. ;) Introducing..........
Alli! she is the chin on the left, Silvia is on the right.

I had great luck introducing these 2 to eachother. It was a breeze.

the chin is acting quite normal, and it seems to be taking a liking to you seeing how you havent had it very long. I do not have a hammock, but most everyone says their chin loves it. they arent hard to make at all. you can buy fleece at any real fabric store, and the eyelets you can get at a hardware store. just remember it takes a special tool to make the eyelets correct.

Board Requests & questions / Need contact to certain breeder
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:40:07 PM »
I need the email address to a certain breeder on this forums breeder finder. If you look in Texas, you will find Riff's chins. I cannot get his email address cuz i use my iphone and it doesnt allow me to use default mail program. so if anyone could take a minuite out of their day and relay either an email or a telephone number, youd be my hero... also, no contact info exists on his/her site. thank you all
