Health / Re: Help! Dangerously Picky New Chin!
« on: February 13, 2015, 06:01:28 PM »
How long ago was the surgery? She may still need pain meds. Chins hide pain very well. Is she still on baytril? That commonly will caus them to eat less or not eat at all. I would consid trying critical care and syringe feeding if needed to maintain her weight. She should also be on probiotics to repopulate her bowel (and may help with her apitite) for at least a week after the antibiotics end. Are you weighing her the same time every day? They can fluctuate quite a bit within a day.

Your best bet is to get.xrays done. Depending on your chin, they can sometimes to those wake. Without knowing for sure if the teeth are involved there really isnt much we can help you with. Good luck

Health / Re: 7 week old baby - soft stool
« on: February 13, 2015, 05:53:21 PM »
I would feed only hay until his stools are normal for a day or two. Kits should not be given any treats or supplements until they are 6 months or older. No wheels or play time till then either. I question how reputable your breeder is if they are giving unsafe supplies with their kits. Most good breeders wean at 8 weeks and keep them till 9 weks old to be sure they are doing fine on their own before allowing them to.go to a.new home. I would watch him closely. Kits can crash and burn quickly.

That is a large amount if weight lost. Are you weighing at the same time during the day? Is she leaving crumbs in her food bowl? Have there been any changes in her food or in the house hold? Some chins do fluctuate but that is larger than average

As a general rule of thumb I don't take chins to a vet unless there is a problem. The stress of the travel and risk of adding new issues isn't worth it. I run fecals as needed. That can be every month or aver few yrs depending on your chin. If he is acting, eating and pooping normal then I wouldn't worry

Health / Re: fur chewing extreme
« on: February 13, 2015, 08:57:22 AM »
Once they start fur chewing is rare for them to stop. On some occasions adding extra toys or a more quiet area can help but odds are she will start again later in life. Does she just chew at her nipple or is it all over? If it is just there she may have a low grade infection which can cause pain, causing the chewing.
