Title: Baby chins fighting

My chinchilla tink had two babies April 10th---a male and a female------------today the male started trying to mount his sister-----and every time he does they fight............am afraid one of them will get seriously hurt------What should I do?

Unfortunately that is very common.  It usually happens when they are fighting to nurse and they can do serious damage to each other. The best thing to do is take one out for about 30 mins to give the other plenty of alone time to eat, then remove the other one so the first one can eat.  You don't want to keep them out for more than 30 mins at a time.

You may want to also check that the mother has enough milk for them. Check to see if their bellies are full, and ensure they are getting milk. Sometimes when babies fight, it is also because their mother is not producing enough milk for both. Females can have enough milk when the kits are younger, and for a variety of reasons, they can also stop producing milk or not produce enough, even after a month of nursing.
