Title: chirping?
Post by: Pikachuthechinchilla on April 16, 2014, 11:27:49 AM
I was scratching pikachus chin and she started...best way to put it is squeeking and chirping.  Her head was tilted back and her eyes closed. Is that a happy sound?

I wouldn't worry about it unless she runs from you and acts afraid of what you are doing.
I have a chinchilla that can be very vocal when he is getting petted and scratched and he is obviously not distressed. Most of the time he keeps coming back for more. Typically the low pitched growling or "kacking" sounds indicate trouble but I've found that my chinchilla makes a wide range of sounds and not all of them make sense to me. The most important assessment is reading their body language.

Sounds like a happy chinchilla to me!
