South East USA / Selling my herd in Nashville, TN
« on: January 31, 2007, 03:02:58 PM »
Hi, all. I mentioned in my guestbook entry when I rejoined the forum that I'm now pregnant with my first child, and will have to sell most if not all of my chins. I wish I could keep them, but time, space and money are all going to be tight with a baby on the way.

I have a proven breeding pair, a standard female whose pedigree I do not have and a standard male I bought from Ralph Shoots 2 and 1/2 years ago. They have produced 8 beautiful offspring in the last 2 years. I showed the offspring at the Rock Hill SC show and got consistent feedback that they have good size and conformation but their coats were not in ideal show condition (cuz I'm a novice groomer  :-[ ). One of them got 1B in the extra dark standard older male category anyway. If you're looking to add size and blocky conformation to your herd, the pair or any of their offspring could be useful.

I am also selling the offspring of this pair. They are all standards and range in age from 7 months to 2 years. I have 3 males and 3 females that I would sell as breeding animals. I have one female, the runt of the first litter, whom I would sell as a pet, as she is probably too small to breed (she's about 550g). I also have 2 pet-quality females (my first chinchillas) who will need a good home. I have no set price on any of the animals and will consider any offer.

I am willing to drive several hours distance to meet anyone who is interested in buying one of the animals. If you are interested, please email me at katie.wilson@vanderbilt.edu; I can send you photos.

I am sad to have to sell the chins. I am planning to bring 10 of them to the show in Rock Hill, SC this weekend, so any of you who will be there, I will see you there!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

So, I said my life was less hectic now, and I guess that's a relative thing. I've been meaning to post those pics for about 2 months.

I've got more big news meaning big changes for my little family. I'm pregnant with my first baby. So much for life being "less hectic"!

What that means is that I am going to have to sell some (most) of my chinchillas. Up till now, I did end up keeping all the babies, mainly because it's been hard for me to get to shows to sell them. But I really don't have that luxury anymore. The chin room has to be converted to a nursery.

Here's what I will have for sale (all standard, all from Shoots' male): 1 male and 2 females who are 1.5 years old, 1 male and 2 females who are 7 months old, 1 male and 1 female who are 3 months old. I really will post those pics soon, and then if you're interested in any of the animals, please email me at katie.wilson@vanderbilt.edu. I also plan to build a website soon, and it will have more details and more pics.

New Births / Stormy's third litter
« on: August 17, 2006, 08:24:51 AM »
2 kits, born July 29th. One boy and one girl, 54 and 52g at birth. Both standard, as are their parents. I'll post pics once I get my film developed (Yes, I'm still using an old-fashioned film camera + scannerĀ  ::) )

Perhaps I'll even post some pics of their older sibs. The first two litters were both triplets. Not bad for a couple of big chins!

Hi, fellow chinchilla lovers,

It's been about a year and a half since I was active on these forums, and my old account apparently got deleted (not surprising), but some of you may remember me. I used to be a med student in North Carolina. For the past two years, I've been doing my psychiatry residency training in Nashville, TN. Now that I'm in my third year, and things are a little less hectic, I'm hoping to be able to participate more again.

While I haven't been active in the chinchilla community, my little herd has been growing. My single breeding pair has had three litters in 2 years, and beautiful babies they are! I hope to have new pics to post soon.

Glad to be back,
Katie
