How's Einstein? My mosaic is settling really well and enjoying chin scritches. He loves his food too.

Q & A / Re: Chinchilla doesn't want to play outside of his cage

Routine vet checks are really not necessary for chins as they cause stress. Chins only normally go to the vet if an issue is suspected. Try leaving him in his cage without playtime for a week or so, with plenty of toys and safe chews, and monitor him. Drinking can vary with season, as can pooing. It he eating hay normally?

What was your chin at the vet's for? Changes is behaviour/demeanour are always a cause for concern. Is your chin eating, drinking, pooping and peeing normally? Have you noticed any changes in feeding habits? Has the temperature changed dramatically?

I'm so pleased that there was no root issues. The misalignment you mention may mean that regular trimming is required, and this is extremely traumatic for a chin. It is a very strange situation, as dental issues more often than not occur in a much younger animal. I've reserved a lovely mosaic chin to pair with my bereaved boy.

This is indeed strange. The sooner you get a scan carried out, the better. I sincerely hope that something can be done for your chin. Please keep updating.

I still believe this is a tooth/root issue that is beginning to escalate.
