I am running low on pellets for my chin and I was wondering what you all would recommend. Is Ox Bow okay?

General Chat / Bad Weather

Last night we had some bad storms, and I hate storms. Especially the ones at night. Well, I was on here last night during the storm, 
which was really stupid, to tell ya`ll about and that I had my 
chinchilla downstairs with me in a little crate. I always do that when severe storms come. The scary thing is that I was typing when I heard my sister say, " It looks like a hurricane out there!!" Like 30 seconds after she said that we lost all power! 
And then lighting 
flashed, and the power came back on. Everything came on, all except the computer! 
I was thinking, Okay did I just break the computer??? The bad thing was my dad wasn`t home, but I am on the computer now! Thankfully, there were not any tornadoes! We are all safe!! 
Did any of you get any bad storms?

Anybody in middle TN breed chins? I would like to know if someone breeds so I could purchase a mate for my chin. I am considering breeding. I have to talk it over with my dad. * FINGERS CROSSED! *

Q & A / Chin Breeders and Bad Weather

Hi everyone. I have a question. For those of you that live where possible tornadoes and hurricanes may form and you are a chinchilla breeder, what do you do with your chinchillas when bad weather comes? I asked my mother yesterday and she said "I guess they just grab their favorites and run!" 
Is that what some of you do? I want to start breeding chins in the future but I would like a few more questions answered before I start breeding them. I only have 1, but every thunderstorm that comes, I have my chinchilla downstairs in a small crate!

3. What do you like most about chins? ( I love everything about chinchillas! What's not to love? )

I have posted before about my chinchilla, but I would like to share more about him. He is a boy, of course. He is dark ebony. (The breeder I bought him from truly believed that by his color, when he was little, he would turn out like a medium ebony. She told me when I bought him that I got a good deal because she priced him by the color she thought he would grow up to be. He is still a little timid. I love him sooo much!!! 
I know it would be much easier to download a picture, but I tried that and the pic was too big! I am NOT a computer whiz so I don`t know how to make it smaller.

Okay, so my dad breeds snakes, we have two dogs( soon to be three !) , two cats, one hamster and 1 chin. BTW, the new dog we are getting is going to be a MASTIFF. 
My mom keeps telling me that we might have to start charging for a petting zoo!!! That would be funny!

I finally got a chinchilla!! I haven`t been on recently because I have been chin proofing my house and getting the cage fixed up and ready! I noticed that as the chin ate it, he only held the food in one hand and ate it in one hand. Then, he finished eating and he wiped his mouth!! I don`t know if all chins do it, but that is because he is my first chinchilla. BTW, his name is Fluff Muffin. 
I have a tendency of naming my pets weird names. I Had two hamsters at separate times. My first was named Tator Skunkie. My next is still living and his name is Puffy Edward.

What is the minimum sized cage you would recommend? Where do you recommend buying the accessories? I can get my chin when I have enough money. I have enough money for the cage and the chin, but not the accessories. 
I need help finding fairly low-priced accessories(bedding, dust, dust house, toys, hay, food pellets, etc.) that are still real good to use. Jessica L.

I read on a site that some chinchillas don`t like to be cuddled. I was just wondering if it was true. Also a site said they liked to be rubbed under their chin, do they? Just like my dad to find something wrong with whatever I want!
