Health / Re: Are peas and tomato juice dangerous for chins?
« on: September 18, 2014, 02:48:39 PM »
in response to:

I hardly have free time, but I'll try to make a vet appointment tomorrow I guess? ... though, by tomorrow, everything would have already gone through his digestive system already, so if no problems come up by tomorrow it's likely that I had a narrow escape?

if something is wrong, i would suggest you make time. i'm not saying this to be mean, but when chins get bad diareeah, or gas, it can go downhill every quickly.

you can try catching her with the dust bath.  once she jumps in, pick up the bath house and place it in her cage, or near a shelf so she can jump out  :)..  if she'll get in, its a win for everyone :)

Cages / Re: All Living Things Cage--anyone have one?
« on: August 31, 2014, 09:51:39 AM »
you can keep the plastic pan in the bottom in and cover it with fleece.  the cage looks like one of the pruvue cages, and they are decent cages but in the future you might want to upgrade to something bigger.

i have some houses on my site, it says out of stock, but we are working on some at the moment and will have some in stock shortly.

Q & A / Re: Is Talcum Powder safe for Chins?
« on: August 27, 2014, 05:13:36 PM »
just to add a bit more for FYI, if a chin does get an upper respiratory problem, they can go downhill very quickly.. not fun.  want to play with him, get blue sparkle dust, totally safe, but sparkly :)

Cages / Re: Where to buy CN cage liners?
« on: August 21, 2014, 04:37:17 PM »
if you want to do that, use fleece, its the only known safe material for chins, however, if you notice anyone chewing on it, you still need to take it out. my Bo used to chew holes in it, so he cant have fleece liners.. little stinker.   and you get get grommets at any joanns or sewing place, and use shower hooks :)

Health / Re: Rescue chin!
« on: August 19, 2014, 05:49:59 AM »
yes, it does take time.  i know some people will even just sit near the cage to let the little one get used to them. you can read, bring your laptop over.. etc.  and just do what you need to do, if you talk to him, talk in a calm/lower tone voice.     it can be time consuming to bond, so never rush him, they will all go at their own pace.

after about a week or two, put your  hand in the cage, slowly, and let him come over to you and sniff it.. dont try to pet him, just leave it there and let him do his thing.. try this every day or a few times a day.  then after a few days or more, depending on your pet, try putting 1 treat on your hand and let him take it off [rosehip, cheerio]  [but only do the treat thing once a day].

its hard to do, you just want to pick them up and give them lots of lovins...

congrats.
