Title: Trying to start an Empress Chapter for eastern states
Post by: Sweetnessheart on May 17, 2008, 12:38:36 PM
Hi,

I have recently been contacted by a fellow chinchilla lover, Robbie Strayn, from TN.  She is talking with Ralph and Barbara Shoots about organizing an Empress Chinchilla Chapter for the eastern states.  If you are interested please email her at:   robbiestrayn@hotmail.com  .

Thanks,
Janice

::banana::Hi--I have also been contacted by Robbie!!   Myself & some breeder friends of mine are sooooo excited!!  We can't wait  until the chapter gets started.   I may get to go to my very first show.  Didn't say I would participate, but give me time & I'll get there.  Just all the things I hear about make it sound like so much fun.  For now I'll just sit & wait.

I'm sorry you won't be able to attend!  Hopefully next time.

The date was chosen so that Ralph and Barbara Shoots would be able to make it from Ohio.

Does anyone know what the itinerary is for the 3 days?  I am trying to decide if I can go & if so, what days I might want to make sure I am there. I know they are all important, but I may not be able to stay for the 3 days.      ~JANE*

Hi Jane,

Right now the tentative schedule is to have the meeting start around 1:00pm on Saturday the 27th and will go until.  I don't know if we will carry the meeting over.

The reason for the late time starting is that the meeting room is being used up until noon.

Hope you can come!

So, there is nothing going on the 26th & the 28th, correct?

Well,  on the 26th (Friday) we'll get checked in.  I don't know if people might want to get together for dinner or not?  It will be up to individuals.  On the 28th (Sunday), check out is usually at motels around 11 or 12 so I guess people will be getting up and leaving.  Like I said everything is tentative right now on the planning except for the meeting to be around 1:00 on Saturday.   ::chinhappy::

Everything is confirmed with the motel and with the Shoots.  Ralph and Barbara will be attending!!   ::thumbsup::  Ralph will be speaking on genetics, show quality and grooming.

If you are planning to attend, please let us know by posting a confirmation on here!  We are trying to get a head count.

Reminder:  Meadowlark Motel
               2878 Soco Road
               Maggie Valley, NC
               1-888-326-1717

Weekend of September 26th.  The meeting will be on the 27th.

Hope to see you there!

Yes, the meeting IS confirmed!

Depending on the number of people that actually show up, our original meeting room may not be large enough so if we change the meeting room/location at the Meadowlark, we MAY be able to get started earlier.  I would love to get started early.

Several people have already made reservations..Yay!

I am taking donations to cover the Shoots stay, I've got some of it.. I am responsible for the Shoots stay, since it was my 'big' idea and we are not an organized group yet.

This is going to be an awesome experience for all of the chin lovers in the south.  Meeting locations will vary from the input of interested parties and their locations.  I do not mind the travel and would be willing to car pool others to and from..

Oh, I've been ripped a time or two and this WAS my mistake, it is a Branch, not a Chapter.  MCBA has Chapters, Empress has Branches.  That was MY mistake.

Hope to see ya'll there,
Robbie

::bouncyball::Two confirmations to add to your list...Ricke & Jane Whaley from CHINCHILLA  ESTATES.  There may be two more.  My daughter & son-in-law who house part of the herd at their home.  Will let you know on them.  Time is getting closer.....can't wait!  This will be my first meeting.  Never have been to a show.  Sounds interesting, although I await more of the learning information that is in store.      ~JANE*

Hi Jane!

This is going to be so much fun and a great learning experience for everyone!

There are a few people that have a little advantage over us already  :2funny:  They DO have experience!

When I attended my first show this year was in St. Louis, it was the Empress Chinchilla Nationals... I was blown away with information within hours, I was immediately asking questions about getting one in the south, they said get your people together and we will get you started, the show was Feb. 29th-March 2nd, it has taken this long...

I will be so glad to get this up and running!  Janice has really helped a lot with this too!  I had already given up on finding a meeting location, pet friendly hotels/motels will let you bring your cat or dog but not a chinchilla in a cage unless we had a couple hundred to spare on a conference room and our stay...

She found the Meadowlark, we were shooting for Asheville, NC. and Maggie Valley is closer to us :)

This Saturday IS the day..... don't miss it!

Thanks to everyone that has made donations for the Shoots stay, I have collected $110 so far of the $200 needed, I would much rather foot the other hundred as to it all!  It is GREATLY appreciated, and yes it was my big idea and it would be worth $200 just for the learning expereince alone, I'm thankful for the donations, it makes it SO much easier!

Thanks again!  I hope to see MANY people show up!  I think I have only met one of the people coming and thats Jane!

Hi!

Wanted to let everyone know that Ralph and Barbara Shoots won't be able to join us for the meeting this weekend.  Ralph's mother had a heart attack and is very ill.

I spoke with Barbara and she informed me of the details that need to be addressed at the meeting.  So we will be having the meeting as planned!

The Shoots will be missed.  We send our prayers and wishes to the Shoots family at this time.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Maggie Valley this weekend!

So how did the meeting go?

The meeting went well.  There were only three of us that attended, but we still had a nice time talking chinchilla, meeting new friends and making plans for our next meeting.  The next meeting will be in approximately 3 months.  We are looking at the map to find a central location for everyone.
