Chit Chat / Re: How you know you met your sole mate?
« on: February 02, 2011, 08:30:22 PM »
as far as it goes for me, i met my boyfriend and a week later we started dating. I know he is my sole mate because i do have a chronic illness, im a nursing student a year shy of graduating, and because of this he has put all of his plans on pause just for my needs. (im buying him his dream truck when i graduate to make up for it) we've been together for 2 years now, living together for 6 months,  and added a new chapter in our lives by adopting a chin about 3-4 weeks ago.
we both split everything (finances, bonding time) half and half. this is probably the best way to go so if you decide to seperate you dont have to fight over anything. But as far as him owing you money, you can take him to court and also get custody of your chins because he is at fault (my mom's an employee for federal court systems)

hope this helps

Cages / Re: Making a cage
« on: February 02, 2011, 08:03:02 PM »
if you want, go to the pet store and ask if you can see an assembled cage. ask about the material then go shop for it your self. take note of the bottom of the cage as it is really the most important. make sure their pellets can fall somewhere where they wont be walking all over it.

best of luck!!!

yes, black velvets, if bred with other black vevets, tend to have gene issues that lead to death. i hope u can find another from a breeder! and make sure your chins teeth are dark orange, if they aren't, then they are in need of a whole lot more calium.

Best of luck

We only had the heat up to 70 at the highest. i have no clue why his ears did that or why he got so hot!  ::shrug:: we're planning on moving his cage near the window because our apt gets a little stuffy. i would call him beige too but his back is a little on the grey-er side. whatever color he is i still think hes cute

my chins pics are finally up. his back is gray, and toward his belly is beige, we tend to play hide and seek with him on our carpet

mine kinda does that. we got a little worried last night with his ears. we hit 18 degrees lastnight (very abnormal for the state of new mexico) so we had the heater on. went to check on our chin before bed and his ears were extremly red. been planning on getting him a fan so he can be cool and well be warm. thing is he doesnt like his chinchiller for some reason, it woulda helped

glad your baby was ok!

the owner i got my chin from also had a mishap with that. she was at work, the chin found himself dangling from his hay holder but by one of his hind feet. she came home to find he had broken his leg off in order to escape, hes fine now, walking and jumping again, but lost his leg. she reported it to the manufacturer but i dont believe they have done anything to fit it. I have been boycotting those since. my chin eats out of a glass doggy bowl made for chihuahuas and its been working just as well
.
NOBODY NEEDS THOSE DEATHTRAPS! anything simpler for a chin is always better. they also will feel more comfortable knowing he has space to run and jump and play without feeling so cluttered

so for new owners, please be aware of shape and size of anything u get for your chins.

Hello! my name's andi. My boyfriend and i just got our first chin about 2 weeks ago. his name is Chino and hes...beige with some grey i guess LOL! not too sure what to call the color. have a question. He keeps running into the glass door. we put plenty of stickers at his level so he can realize not to go through. half the time he sees it, half the time he doesnt and he runs into it. anyone know what colors they can see easily so he can stop hitting his head?

congrats on your chins! my boyfriend and i just got one as well. our only difficulty with him so far is that hes the same color as out carpet coincidently, so hes a litle hard to find if you take your eye off him. best of luck!! :::grins::
