Post by: Rachael29 on October 19, 2015, 04:26:17 PM
HI Guys!
So have been looking this up online and alot of different websites say alot of different things about temperature. Some are saying between 10 and 15 degrees, some places are saying 20-22 is Ideal.

So i thought i would put the question forward to you lot here.

The entire range 10C-22C is acceptable. With any chinchilla do not expose them to rapidly changing room temperatures. If a chinchilla is used to being at an upper or lower end of that range it should not be removed from that range without special precautions. Overheating is more dangerous than chilling. I would say ideal is going to be the lower range for that reason.

Up to 22C is fine, but cooler is better. Chins can handle down to freezing without any issues. But they can't handle heat. Something to consider is the humidity. If the humidity is high then the temp needs to be lower. Chins can not sweat so fans do nothing for them. Room temp is important to monitor
