i dont know if fresh wheat is safe or not, but pull all pellets, dont give any treats, and only feed hay, this should harden it up. if you dont see a difference in a few days, maybe a good idea to call a vet.   i wish you well

i cant stand that there are no good water bottles out there.. remember the water buddy, great bottle, does not leak!! but they stopped making it years ago.. lixit does have one with the same type nozzle so it doesn't leak.  it is plastic tho, so even tho it gets strapped on the outside of the cage, there is a chance your chin will chew it..[may dam girls do..ugh.. so i cover it with fleece].

i'm not saying you have to buy it from me, but just want to show you the bottle, i'm sure other places sell them too.. i love them.  but they are expensive.

if you scroll down on this page, its the first water bottle.. the no drip

great cage for one chinchilla, but does need to be chinproofed [take out plastic]

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007INJN82/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&smid=A1KKNI1QDASESA
looks like a nice chage but needs to be chinproofed [metal ledges and ladders are best if not used]

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F40O24/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&smid=A3P4Z6IKOXW5JZ
cant tell what the ledges are made out, might need to be chinproofed

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004G1B814/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?ie=UTF8&smid=A1KKNI1QDASESA
would also need to take out the ladder and change over the metal ledges [some people do use metal ledges, but i have heard they can catch bumblefoot from them, as for the ladders, they really shouldnt have those because they can get their legs caught in them and break them.

at least one of them i think looked like they had small doors. just an fyi, you might want to go with something that has bigger doorways so its easier to get in and out of the cage to clean/ take the chin out..etc.... just my opinion....  i know when i had the ferrets they had small doorways and what a nightmare it was cleaning the cage out every week cuz i could hardly fit thru..lol

some other good cages people like are:

ferret nations and quality cages.

Q & A / Re: Safe Fleece? and is it 100% polyester
« on: October 12, 2012, 07:06:18 PM »
fleece is the only known safe material for chins, however, as stated above, if you notice someone chewing on it, you should take it out because it can cause life threatening issues. i cant use it with bo, he was caught chewing on it.. bad bo bad bo.. lol
