Thank you for the reply! It makes me feel good that he seems happy in his new home. 
I guess I'm just used to seeing them constantly hiding in pet stores.. It makes sense that they want to be tucked away from all the noise and strangers.

For some reason, there are no pet stores around here that sell sleep n ledges, lava ledges, or chinchillers. I've heard they're discontinued here.
I ordered some online from Flowertown Chinchillas. When my ledges come in, I'm going to take out the fleece lined ramps.I don't have a wheel yet either, but I'm ordering the 15" Chin Spin!

I apologize if this is a silly question, but I'm a new Chin owner as of Friday! 
I've noticed that my chin, Eli, doesn't sleep in his little home/hideouts. He just sleeps in a random open place in his cage. Is this normal? I thought they normally liked being confined/hidden while sleeping.. Maybe he doesn't like his hideouts. Should I buy him a new one? I just want to make sure my little one is comfortable!
Does any one else's chin sleep in the open?

I bought the Ferret Nation double unit.. I have yet to purchase my Chinchilla, but it does seem like a sturdy, spacious cage. I am hoping he/she will enjoy it.

General Chat / Cheapest Site to Order Exercise Wheel?? (Canada)

I can only find US websites that sell Chinchilla-safe wheels.
It's pretty frustrating that pet stores don't sell them. The only ones around here are plastic, and only 12 inches at largest. I know that the wheel should be at least 14" and NOT made of plastic.
Wheels like the Chin Spin and Silver server are between $50-$75.. Which I might be willing to pay that price, but my estimated shipping is $40 or more. Making the wheel over $100. Do any of you know any Canadian websites that sell these wheels, or similar wheels?
If not, I'll end up paying the $100+ because I do feel it is important to have. I just hope to find a better deal/lower shipping cost!

Thank you for sharing this, it is an eye opener. We expect Chinchilla made things to be safe for them. I am going to be really careful about what I put in my future Chin's cage.

Hello all!
I've had an interest in Chinchillas for quite a while now, but only recently have been looking into owning a Chin. I've been doing a lot of research, and making a checklist of what I need and want for my Chin. I'm really excited about preparing for my new Chin, and I thought this would be a good community for me to join if I have any further questions... and of course I will share pictures and stories of my new baby when he/she is finally here!
