You know that is the thing I was thinking as well is the shipping charges. I never thought about goiong to a show maybe I should try that sometime. Thanks for the suggestion but if anyone does want one I will be more than happy to work something out. If you want I will also post pictures of the different granite colors I have as well.

Hello I was wondering I have access to cheap grantite 12x12 tile. So I was wondering if I could make cheap granite chillers for your chinchilla would you all be interested? I would cut it down to 6x12.

If you make one of metal, it could not be out of aluminum ... they will chew and eat it. Galvanized steel will rust. And the metal will tend to lower the body temperature due to the fact metal absorbs heat.
Plastic is a no-no, they will eat it also.
Pine wood is the best, it must be seasoned and NOT TREATED. They will chew and eat it, but it will take longer to distroy it than it did the cardboard box. Please use screws, not nails ... they will chew and expose the screws or nails ... it is much easier to move/remove the screws, but not as easy on the nails. Check out the hut here: http://www.luvnchins.com/LuvNChinsChinchillaBooklet.html About 1/5 the way down it shows a hut and gives you a list of supplies you need.Some people will drill holes and use dowels instead of screws or nails to secure the back and sides of the hut. The hut shown is attached to the side of the cage to keep it from falling down levels of floors and injuring the chin.
Keep some sand paper handy to smooth any rough edges. Male extra ones!

Alright right now I am using a cardboard home for ashes until her new cage comes tommorow
Anyways I have plans to make her a new house and my question is if I wanted to make it out of metal and make sure there are no sharp edges would that work ok. Or would a home out of wood with only nails be better?? I just want to make her comfortable and have her own little place. Also I cant wait tell the new cage gets her tommorow so she has some layers to climb on.

If I were you I would get him into the new cage ASAP - I don't like the floor bottom because he could get his leg(s) caught and that would spell trouble! (I am speaking from experience!) I am sure his coat is awesome and a dust bath would make a huge difference!It is actually a female and yeah I do want to get it out of this cage into a the new one but UPS is only so fast. Monday will be the day I do have most of covered in 12x12 marble tile I work at a tile store

Hello all I am new here I just picked up a chin a few days ago and it has been nothing but fun. My question is do I need to give Ashes a specific amount of food and also at certain times during the day?? Any help would be great thanks. Also is it ok to just leave food in the cage at all times??
