Title: Buttercup died today.
Post by: furrylovables on January 27, 2009, 09:09:13 PM
My little pink white girl my husband named buttercup died today. ::cry222::: I am sooo upset. She escaped her cage when she was only 2 weeks old, unharmed. Then I noticed about 2 weeks later she had a ring going around the base of her tail like someone put a tight rubberband around it. It was only red but not crusty. I took her to the vet and the doc wanted to clean it out to see if there was any foreign material that maybe was in there. The vet tech came in and took her temp and put the thermometer a little to far in her little rectum. Doc cleaned up her tail and couldn't find anything.  Two days later I noticed she pooped her insides out. I rushed her back to the vet and the emergency doc on duty was able to put her back together. Poor girl had to be knocked out twice for two surgerys,  and she was doing great. She was taking her meds 2x a day along with the steriods in her little butt. She had been off her meds for about 2 weeks (doc only told me 10 days on meds) and she dies. I am soo upset I don't know what when wrong. She was still nursing with mom and eating her pellets and drinking fine. I did have to help her with her poops for three days making sure her stitches didn't come loose. Doc removed stitches after 4th day and plumbing was working great. I know she was a strong little girl and she made it through 2 horrible incidents, but why did she have to go when her body was almost healed? I was so bonded with her, and she let go. ::cry222:::

Thank you so much everyone! I am really close with all my chins. But when you have a real little friend it just stinks when they pass on. She got so used to me at only 6 weeks old, she knew when it was time to take her meds. She was such a little trooper.

Sometimes we don't understand why, but maybe, for her sake, it is better she left so early, sounds like, had she lived, she might have had problems all her life.  I know you would have not wanted her to stay, if she was going to have to suffer all the time.

You had her long enough to love her and there will always be that special place in your heart for her.  Remember all the cute expressions and ways she did different things.   ::silly::  That's the memory of her you need to cherish.   :)

She's in chinnie heaven now, playing with my Mocha and the other chins that have gone before her.  She'll never be sick or in pain again.  She'll play and run and be happy for all eternity.   ::nod::

 :hugs:  Jo Ann

One day, when you walk through the gates of heaven,  and you run to your beloved ones who have gone before you, there standing in a meadow filled with loved pets will be your baby, Buttercup. And she will run to you with her paws outstretched. You will run to her with your arms outstretched. You will join her in an everlasting hug.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing an animal is always difficult but when they go before their time it just doesn't seem fair :'( I hope you find comfort soon when you look back at the moments you shared together. Just because you have an animal for a short period of time doesn't mean you love them any less.

i'm very sorry for you and i can personally relate to what you are going threw.

i bred a few times.  my daisy had two kits and they were doing great, and at about three weeks old one of the boys had the rectal prolapse [like you said above] i rushed him to the vet and when they put it back in, it wouldn't stay in so i gave them the okay to operate.  when they opened him up, he had tortion.  he had to be put down.

no ryhme or reason.. it just happened.. i cried so hard.... so i just wanted to say i'm very sorry and sometimes there just aren't answers and i don't mean that to sound rude in any way at all.
