Health / Re: EMERGENCY!!!
« on: July 20, 2007, 08:53:57 PM »
It is my understanding that chins should not have any of the penicillians which Amoxicillian is a derivative of. unless it is a real emergency. My vet only gave one of my chins a shot of penicillian once because he had a very serious infection that did not respond to other antiboitics. He did not have a reaction to it lucky for me. Check with the vet school in Urban, Illinois. I got a list once of the drugs that chins could take and not take, but I don't have it any more. The skin is the first line of defence against infection. So if the skin is not broken, her chances of not getting an infection are better. Hope that she is doing well.

Memorials / Re: Hanna 7-7-07

I am so sorry to hear about Hanna, that must have been horrible. I went to your website and looked at her picture. She was the first picture and so beautiful. I am sorry that motherhood went so wrong for her. She is with her babies now and they are at the Rainbow Bridge. I wish that these kind of things never happened to the so innocent.

North East USA / Re: Need or Want a GOOD Chinchilla Vet???
« on: July 08, 2007, 11:42:39 PM »
Thanks for the tip, I need a good chin vet. I live in Indianapolis, Indiana and have to take a day off work and drive to another state to get my chinnies to a vet. Some exotic vets have little experience with chins, it just depends on the vet.

Memorials / Re: Zorro
« on: June 04, 2007, 02:40:06 AM »
I am so sorry about Zorro, I was just looking at him on June 1st on your website. He looked so sweet and beautiful, I just can't believe it either. I do not breed with runs so I don't understand how this could happen. Remember that Zorro will always live in your mind and heart and is wating for you at the end of the Rainbow Bridge. I am a very new member to the chin club and have not learned how to post things yet. JoAnn was kind enough to post a poem about my beloved chin that passed. Please read "Chinchilla in a Locket" in this memorial section and I hope that it helps you. If it helps please respond under Chinchilla in a Locket. I am so sorry that this awful accident had to happen, believe me I feel your pain.
My prayers are with you, Donna

North Central USA / Re: looking for a great chin vet in Chicago
« on: June 01, 2007, 11:04:39 PM »
I live in Indianapolis, Indiana, but have taken my beloved chin Billy to Midwest Animal Hospital, 7510 West North Ave. in Elmwood Park, IL 60707, phone 708-453-4755. Billy saw Betsy Clarkson,DVM. She was very good with chins and really knowlegable. I am looking for a great chin vet within a reasonable drive of Indianapolis. It takes me about 5 hours to drive to Chicago, and 5 hours back. That is to hard on me and the chin. If you live in Chicago, It couldn't be better.

Memorials / Re: Dear Sweet Cody is gone!
« on: May 30, 2007, 02:44:04 AM »
I know how much you loved Cody and how close all of his care must have brought you two. I feel your pain. I lost my Billy to the same problem. I even took him to two other states for exotic vet care many many times. JoAnn was kind enough to post my poem to Billy in this same memorial section. Please read the poem "Chinchilla in a Locket" and let it comfort you. Cody and Billy are waiting at the end of the Rainbow Bridge.

Chit Chat / Re: What would you do?
« on: May 30, 2007, 02:21:02 AM »
JoAnn,
I think this was a great article to help women be more aware. I am a single woman that needs a wake up call once in awhile to be careful. Indianapolis is not the safe town it was when I was a child, and sometimes I forget that. We must all be very careful or who would feed the chins!

General Chat / Re: Cute Overload

Your pictures are so cute. I have a violet male named Vinny that likes to show off his toys like the chin in your bottom picture. Both pictures are true "cute overload". Your chins are beautiful.

Memorials / Re: Miko
« on: May 25, 2007, 09:54:08 PM »
I am so sorry to hear about your Miko. I lost my beloved Billy last year and I'm still not over it. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that Billy is waiting at the end of the Rainbow Bridge for me. I'm sure that Miko is playing with Billy while they wait. ::cry222:::Chinnie Hugs, Donna
