I don't think my standard girl is grooming herself. Her fur looks awful and giving her a dust bath doesn't seem to help. It's hard to describe how it looks but its almost like she's slipped her fur but it's all over. She just had her first litter in Sept and the kits are now weaned. What could be causing this? Which # comb can I purchase to comb her out? She's eating and drinking and eating hay and she's acting fine, its just her fur issue.
I hope things are going better for you now. I've been there done that. The guy I was with was controlling and very jealous. After 3yrs of being off and on, he broke up with me for something stupid and that was it. I'd had enough. Then a month or so later, I met the love of my life and here we are almost 9yrs later.
I currently have one chin for sale. He was born 9/7/07. Mom is a standard sc from pa chinchillas and dad is a black velvet. I'm asking $75. I'm located in Sellersville, Pa.
Well, I'm going to create a questionaire and I'm going to create an information packet for each new owner. I'm sure it'll make my life easier and it'll be very helpful to any potential buyer.
I really appreciate all your info and suggestions.
I don't have a website yet but I'm going to create one of my own to have people fill out. I guess I can email it for now but I sold my first chin to people I thought were good owners and I think they mean well, they just didn't do any research. So I gave my lecture on food, cages and all that stuff. I'm hoping they follow through with what I told them.
have someone fill out a questionaire of some sort before purchasing a chin? I've really been considering doing this b/c I want to know that the people I'm selling my chins to, are knowledgable and know what they're doing.
I currently have 7 and my next one will be a portrait of my dog, Kira. She's our first dog and she means so much to my husband and I. I also have a tat of one of my chins, Cody. I'm also thinking of getting one of a crested gecko. We have 3 of them and they are the neatest little creatures.
This is the actual picture I'm using for the tattoo.
We have a 2yr old pitbull that was raised with all of our pets. She loves to play with our ferrets and loves to stick her nose in the rat cages and chin cages while I'm feeding or just bonding with them. We also have 3 cats that are actually afraid of the rats and the chins, lol.
Aww, thanks everyone. As far as my chins go, I have 8 of them. So far I have a violet female and a standard female. Those are my only 2 females and then I have the boys. A mosaic, tan and a white eb. I also have a standard grey male kit thats 8wks. Last but not least, I have my rescue pair, who are both fixed and live together.
As far as the vet tech program. I'm doing the online program from Penn Foster College. It's a 2 yr program. It doesn't require any previous schooling, just a high school diploma.
I'm so sorry to hear that about your mom. Cancer is such an awful disease and its just not fair that it happens to good people. Cancer runs in my family and right now, my granmom, great aunt and my great uncle all have it. My granmom is already a survivor so try to keep your chin up eventhough it may be difficult.
I just wanted to say hello and that I'm happy to be here. I've owned chinchillas for several years now but just recently started breeding. I work for a veterinary clinic as a receptionist but I'm going back to school to be a vet tech. I love animals so much. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
