The Pink White might be OK to breed. You should ask your son's teacher what she thinks about breeding him if he didn't come with a pedigree. Also one of his parents or grandparents should be a standard to follow good breeding practices.

I make trips up to Buffalo every few months. That's not terribly far from Rorchester. I've only got one chin available right now though.

See if you can turn up the heat on the dehydrator. Also it's not the easiest time of year to dehydrate since it's the middle of the humid summer. You'll probably have better luck in winter.

I talked to Fluffball last week, what she's looking for an female adult breeding quality chin. I only had a baby white ebony and she didn't want to spend that much. ChinVet usually only has kits as well. I think the other breeder you're talking about is http://www.alleghenyroyalchinchillas.com/, she sometimes has adults for sale but it doesn't look like she has any right now.

Instead of getting a chin from the pet store you should look around for a local breeder. You're more likely to find a better quality chin for a cheaper price than you would at a pet store.

Right next door practically, I'm in Penn Hills. I'm sending you a PM with my phone number if you want to set up a time to come see her.

I'm a small breeder in Pittsburgh and I've got a white ebony female for sale. She's going to be weaned on Thursday.

I posted about her in this thread. I don't have any updated pictures of her right now but she is a very good looking chin.

I'm in PIttsburgh, I've got a White Ebony female that will be weened in a couple of days. As Jo Ann said though you'd have to keep them seperate until she's old enough to breed.

Get a large carboard tube, like from a carpet, something they can crawl through. When they crawl into the pipe, pick it up and put the end that they're facing into their cage. Sort of like that Bugs Bunny cartoon with the hollow log on the end of the cliff.

Here's a listing of Vets that will take chinchillas in PA. I think you said you were in Reading.

A lot of time eye infections are caused by some irritant in the eye. See if you can flush out the eye with sterile saline drops.

Q & A / Re: Is this hay ok?

Timothy hay is a must, alfalfa is OK on occasion. Too much alfalfa can cause calcium stones.

Mine have gotten to the point where the shop vac doesn't even phase them. They see me pull it out of the closet and they know what it does. The dust buster doesn't bother them either. They'll come up and try to chew on it while I'm trying to clean up all their little presents.
