It worries me a little that you don't have any time for your first Chinchilla but are talking about getting a male and breeding them, surely if you don't have time for one you will have no time to properly breed and care for several Chins at one? Do your Chinchilla's still interact between the cages? Have you tried introducing them again? Not sure if pairing Chins is the same as buns where it doesn't matter on age/size etc.

General Chat / Chinchilla Proofing!

Need some hints and tips for Chinchilla Proofing skirting boards, corners, plug sockets etc! Thinking about placing cardboard around but need a safe way of affixing it to the actual wall, unsure about using blu tack or tape just in case it gets accidently eaten!

I use hay on the base of my Chin's cage, as long as you remove any wet patches each day then there is no problem.

I use Megazorb (https://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/Litter.11/Megazorb.174.html) in the trays underneath my Chin's cage then hay on top. It's good for litter trays too as I use it for the Buns when I run out of wood pellets! Very absorbant and very little dust - it's basically a wood version of Carefresh.

Hi all,

My names Sarah and I have just homed a gorgeous 5 yr old chin boy called Mr Nibbles (to change, feel a bit silly calling it out!) :) Completely new to Chinchillas and have only a vague idea what I'm doing but he seems to be happy and healthy!

As well as Mr Nibbles I am slave to 5 gorgeous house rabbits and 9 hamsters!
