Memorials / Re: Chilly 1986-2006

Thank you all for all your kind thoughts and remembrances. I would like to get a stone memorial for Chilly, I found this website, http://www.artisticetching.com/petmemorials.htm, they have almost every animal etching you can think of, but not chinchillas.
Does anyone out there know of any stone memorials with a chinchilla etching on them?

Memorials / Chilly 1986-2006

 ::sadtears::

My 20 1/2 yr old chinchilla Chilly passed away this morning suddenly. Last night he was taking a dust bath and eating his raisin and this am I found him lying on his back in his dust house.
He was so sweet and loving, would give me nibbles and stretch his neck for me so I could rub under it. He learned how to grab for raisins using his paws. He sired many adorable baby chins with his mate Charlotte who passed on years ago.
Chilly....I miss you so much. No matter how many years they live, it's never enough.

Health / Young chin with bad cold possible pneumonia
« on: July 20, 2006, 04:46:05 PM »
On Tues. am my chin Amelia was congested...this seemed to happen suddenly. She wasn't very interested in her food. I brought her to the vet the same am, and by 1130a she had had her first dose of enroflaxacin 20mg/ml. Her nose is stuffy and running and so are her eyes.
It is now Thurs. eve and she doesn't seem to be getting better.
I am bringing her in tomorrow am.
She had something very similar to this last Sept. and the enrofloxacin worked well for it.
Any ideas? Help? thank you!

Hi Rose ,

Please ask your vet for some of Oxbow's critical care, it is a powdered feed that you mix with water (or baby food or mashed bananas, etc) and it is perfect for putting weight on.
It is especially good for chins with teeth problems.
good luck!

I have a scruffy scrawny chin myself...chilly....full name mrchillybeans.
I HAVE HAD HIM FOR 20 YEARS..........he was born March of 1986.
He has always been skinny (500 grams) and his fur has never been as fluffy as most chins. He seems to live on hay and raisins, and a few pellets!   I have tried to entice him with diff. chin chow but he stubbornly refuses to eat anything other than purina bunny chow.
He also has chewed on his fur from time to time..over the years he has gotten into scrapes with (mostly bigger) chins and he is missing a few fingers and part of one ear.
He will never win any beauty contests, but hey I would rather have had him for 20years
than a more handsome one.

What chins look like does not always mean "quality", I have had fluffier plumper chins that haven't lived nearly as long.
good luck with your chin!!!
Scruffy chins unite!!!
