Chewy died Tuesday during surgery having his teeth burred.   Although he had been syringe fed for almost 2 weeks, we were so very optimistic because he began eating on his own the night before surgery.  We just knew he had made it over the hump of being sick.  Unfortunately that was not the case, and Chewy coming home to us was not to be, not in the way we wanted anyway.  He was our first and only Chin.  Unless you have owned a chin yourself, you can never know what special little guys they are. I would like to thank Jenova, Abby W., Debbie nl.ca. and Jo Ann for your heath advises.  We will continue to be a part of the chinchilla club, but for now, chinless.   We just need our healing time.    so sad

OMG I'm in shock, so I know how you must feel  so sad

What happened, what went wrong?HuhHuh
Was he too weak, or complications?
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much your love him, he was in awesome hands. hugs

I know it will be hard at first but I'm sure there is at least one other little darling just waiting for such a slave.

Get yourself a new baby, and never for get Chewy. angel

   angel

It is awful to loose a little one ... most of us here have.  They just make this special place in your heart that nothing can replace.  In time, I hope you will get another little chinchilla, (I could not imagine my life without chinchillas) and he/she, too, will make their own special little spot in your heart.   Sily!  You will never forget Chewy, but try to keep your mind on all the fun times ... when he made you laugh ... and how good he made you feel.   Fruit

I strongly believe God has a place in heaven for the precious chinnies and that is where they all go.   Chew Sily!  is there with my Mocha   Sily! and others, who are now where there is no pain, no cages and they can run freely together, playing for all eternity.

Take as much time as you need, but also keep in mind all the love you are missing ... giving and receiving ... when you do not have a precious little chinchilla of your own.

 hugs
Jo Ann

Neeley,

I have been out of town and just got back....I am so sorry for your loss!  I had hoped your little guy would pull through.  But at least you know he is not in pain anymore.  In time your pain will lessen as well.  I also hope you will consider a new chinchilla when you are ready.  It won't make it ok that Chewy is gone, but having a new pet to love and be loved by will help you move past the loss.
