Flat on my back!!!!!!!
« on: April 29, 2007, 12:36:07 PM »

Hi guys,
Sorry I haven't been around.
I haven't been on line for days, been flat on my back for the last 5.
All I got to do was fill food dishes.
I got pretty banged up in a car accident 18 years ago and have never been the same.
I have two protruding disc at c-3-4-5, and they can't operate.
I was driving at the time and had all the joints in my upper body pulled out of their sockets from holding the wheel so tight upon impact, now it all arthritic. My shoulder has frozen, and now they think I have carpal tunnel in both wrists.
I also dislocated my hip and have problems with sciatic nerve.
Truth is I'm just one big pain :D
Sometimes it flares up so bad I am incapacitated for days or weeks, and spring is the worst.
I take flexeril, demerol, and gravol for the severe flare ups, and take a great new drug called Tremacet on a daily basis.
Then I'm in such a stupper I can't even think.
So it gets to be a big trade off, pain or stoned, and how much of each I can bare.
I don't sleep for days sometimes, the chins love that, as I spend much time just sitting on a stool in front of open cages getting groomed.
Makes me feel better too ::kiss99::
Any way just wanted my friends to know why I disappear from time to time.
Gee I bet my virtual chin has died ::tickedoff::
I'm alive again ::gobananago:: ::banana::

::silly:: Ouch!!!  :hugs:  I can empathize with you.

Wish you were over here and on the east coast ... I'd get you in to see Dr. Hagland at Duke University Hospital, in North Carolina.

I have 9" rods in my lower back.  Had a triple break in and around the left knee and the right shoulder completely out of socket.  My husband, Bill, has 15" rods in his lower/mid back and has had C4,C5,C6 and C7 fused ... then he fell 3 weeks after the neck surgery.  He had to go back in and get C3 fused on to the others in his neck.  VERY risky surgery.  Duke has been a life saver for both of us.    ::nod::
We just tell everyone we are getting re-built for the next 50 years.   :D

I had brain surgery on the right half, to repair an aneurysm that was almost dead center of the brain.  Bill had a massive stroke that killed 40% to 50% of the left lobe of his brain.  So we tell everyone it takes both of us to make one brain.   rofl

You have to laugh at it, or it can get to you.

Just live each day as if it were your last ...
But, plan as if you will live forever.  ;)

And ...

Always remember, even the longest journeys begin with the first step.   :)

Glad to see you up and back on line!    ::nod::

OUCH OUCH to you both.
They don't do fusions on the C spine here unless your in a wheel chair ::tickedoff::
Did have a great Doc who was going to get me sent off somewhere to have it done, and he passed away. ::shrug::
I also suffered some left temporal lobe damage, all that means is I have to take lots of notes.
It's a real bummer when I go shopping and foreget my note. :D
Yes I have definitely found the humor in it, the alternative wasn't pretty ::07yikes::
And as you have Bill I have my Chris who is not in any better shape. He's full of arthritis from roofing for years, and has a heart condition.
We too say you wouldn't get one good body from the both. ;)
And folks who know me say when I'm quiet I'm sick.
I must have been one SOB in a former life. :2funny:

::silly::Maybe all four of us knew each other in a former life and we were all in the same gang!    :D

If my husband had not done so good on the first three surgeries, the doctor told us he would not have attempted the last surgery.  Bill went through 35 years of constant pain with the local doctors.  Duke had him up and going in 4 surgeries and in less than a year.   (I forgot to mention the triple hernia surgery he had.)  Isn't it amazing what the body can go through and still function!

If you get another chance, ask to go to Duke in North Carolina and see Dr. Haglund.  They treat you like a humanbeing there, instead of just a number.   ::nod::

I know what you mean ... we may be going to the store for 4 items, come back home with 20 items and only 2 of the 20 are what we went for.  Another trip back to get the first two we forgot.    rofl

Good to see you back!   How were your virtual chinchillas when you came back?
