White Black TOV Female
« on: May 04, 2007, 05:23:21 PM »

::silly::We had a new kit presented to us yesterday ...
That's not unusual ... but the way it looks, is a bit unusual.

Her mom is a black, also known as a black velvet.

Her daddy is a white mosaic.

So far, they have given us a black velvet and a standard ...

This time, they threw everything in the pot ...

She is a white/black/tov ...

::silly::Top View... If any of the newbies have wondered what we are talking about when we say the stripe on the front paws shows the TOV pattern ... her's is a perfect example!

White mosaics are known to change over time, so it will be interesting to see how much she changes.

Just click on the pictures to enlarge them.  :)

Shes really cute.
My mosaic and bv gave me a BV female, but she was fairly dark as a baby with a white tail, and as she got older she grew lighter.  Still had that beautiful trademark mask on her face though.  I sold her to a nice family but Im dying to see what she looks like now.

Well how cute is that.
I love the different colors and shades that can turn up when breeding mutations.

Do they ever/can they turn up at the shows?
It would be hard to get enough the same for the fur industry wouldn't it?

::silly::Thanks all!   :blush2:

Do you have any pictures of the little one you had, QTPie?

Yes, they do turn up at the shows.  As a matter of fact there were several white/ebony at the last MCBA National.  The rule is: if it has white, other than just on the tummy, it is classified in the white category, regardless of how little of the white their might me.  Unless they are carefully paired through several generations, bringing back the strong standard genes into the line, they are usually to small to do much at a show.

I'm in the process of doing a new article on the last MCBA Nationals ... We had one show up that looked like a perfect standard gray ... except for a small patch of white fur on top of his head ... he was judged with the whites.
You can look the article at: http://www.luvnchins.com/2007MCBANational.html and http://www.luvnchins.com/2007MCBANationalP2.html ... there are lots of pictures on the second page, so it may take a little time to load, but I think you'll like it.  Keep in mind that the article is not finished.   :::grins::

Only pages 1 & 2 are complete ... 3 & 4 are still being worked on at this time.   :)

The fur industry in the oriental countries seem to be becoming more intrested in the mutation colors now.  If you were to use white/ebony or white/black furs, it would probably be patches of all different sizes and shapes ... because  it would be next to impossible to get enough that were alike to do anything with it.  That is the main reason the standards and the black velvets are the most prevalent in the fur industry ... they can get enough of the same color, pattern, quality and size to make articles with them.  Also, the standards being the original color of all chinchillas, they are usually of a higher quality than any of the mutations.  With the black velvet being in breeding for so long, they too, have a high quality fur and a more consistant color pattern.   On the other side of the coin, many of the mutation colors come in so many different shades and fur quality that it is hard to match them for a garment.

I'll try to get some picture taken of some of the other kits born this year and put them in my album.  I feel like I am short-changing them.
