OK call me a sucker,on C&Q a lady emaild a Rescue back east. Saying that so can no keep her five chins and that she need to find home for them. None of of the Rescues could take them. So I siad  I could. I have a room sepeart from the house were they will stay. I pick them up tommow. They come all their stuff. Three boys and two girls.

That is so kind of you!  I wish had more room at my house to do rescue work in addition to my breeders, but my husband is only ok with my "hobby" if it only takes up one room of the house.  So, alas, I will have to wait for a bigger house 

You are really going to have a full house yourself, Chinpo!

Chinpo where are you located at in the country?  I just wondered - I read East and wasn't sure if thats where you are thats where I'm from!

And you have a big heart to take in those five chins, are you going to try to rehome them or keep them?

I hope their all in great health, and know you'll share pics when you get them.
Remember to keep them from other animals until your sure of their state of health.
I took in 3 before Christmas, they've just gone into the chin room.

Well I just got Evey one settled in our spare room out back. When I got there she one more that she was going to keep him b/c he was on Critical Care. He is a little underweight. As far as I can see nothing else. Evey one is going to the vet tommow. One had a few mattes, the others looked like they hadn't a dust bath for a few weeks other then that, Evey one looks good. She was feeding them Kayatee Fiesta and king Timothy hay. Tommow I plan to slowly start switching them. They all standards from ages 3 1/2 to 7 mths. I will try to post some pics this weekend.

    Did any of them come with any paper work?  Are any of them related? 

    I keep mine separated for 3 months, just for safety.  Rescue or otherwise.
    Some think that is excessive, but I don't ...  I had one chin, purchased from a veteran breeder (that had just got it from another breeder) and it had a stomach wart (unheard of in chinchillas before) it was dead in less than a week (along with a $738 vet bill) ... I was lucky it showed up as quickly as it did ... the incubation for the air-born virus that causes it, was 9 weeks to 9 months.  I knew it was not likely to have gotten to my herd, but I put all my chins into quarantine for 9 months, anyway. 
     That was several years ago ... no more became sick ... I was very lucky.  The breeder replaced it with an even better chin ... I picked it up a year after loosing the first one.

No sadly all of these come different pet stores and the on Critical Care is one of their kits. I have these guys outsaid room that is off the house. I also chance my cloths and wash my hands any time I am with them. The same go's for any one that comes in contact with them. I feel so bad for these chins. When I give them a dust bath they wouldn't come out of it. I hope that it is not Malocclusion.

That's always hard.
A friend and I babysat 7 chins for a lady. She took a family of mom, dad, and baby. I took 4 boys. They were the filthiest smelliest chins. We had them for about a month and they had to go back home. We were hoping that they would leave them because we felt so bad. But the owners were given some pointers and a nice chat about dust bathes and good pellets. I just hope they listened to some of it.

OK we are back from the vet. Here are their weights are Sammy J- 740 grams Age 3 1/2 years, Rudolph- 520 grams age 2years, Pepito- 599 grams age 2 years.  The girls are Shinning Star- 640 grams 3 1/2 years, Silver Moon- 640 grams age 2 years. Every one is good health but Sammy's son is one on Critical Care is 401 grams age 7 mths. The vet said she wanted him back in a week to check is teeth b/c she thinks he did not have enough to chew on and that is he is on Critical Care. She wants to she if get his weight up over the next few weeks if all gos well with his teeth.

The weights are good for what they have been through...

Just give them lots of TLC ... as I'm sure you will

That is so funny!  My first chin really looked like that, her eyes got all squinty and she would pooch out her belly so looked really fat!
