btw we took the parrot (Reuben, a CAG) to the vet to get some foot sores checked out. It turns out they were too minor to warrant any treatment. We did everything to eliminate possible causes (like removing rough, irregular surfaces, replaced perches, even filed down a groove on a toy he sits on all the time). I think the sores have been steadily improving since we noticed them but they heal so slowly we were concerned something else could have been going on. What was interesting is that they did an anal swab and gram stain on site and said the bacterial count was "slightly low". They perscribed bene-bac gel for birds and reptiles, a probiotic. Also charged us 3 times retail price for it. :(

Anyway I doubt it's really doing anything but I don't see how it could hurt. We're giving him a dose a day now for the 15 day course they gave us.
