The giardia could have been triggered by the stress and change of everything too. It's always there, just not usually problematic. It's when the count/numbers rise they get sick. Not a hard problem to solve. Are you on well water or city water?

Go get the poor little guy.  I find it cruel to take him back, you probably broke his little heart.  When we got our chins one developed an eye infection 3 days after getting from a breeder, i contacted them and she offered my money back, i declined as the only reason i called was to find out a good vet in the area.  I could never give an animal back unless its a life/death matter, a small stomach issue is nothing of the such.  I know you had the best intentions at heart, but the constant moving isnt going to help.  Think long and hard if you want the commitment that a chin needs before you bring him back home.

I hope the best for you and the little one.  I would go get him and finish giving the medicine myself to make sure hes in a happy location with the most love possible, as we know petstores are not those.

P.S.- My first 2 chins were from petstores, I know where your coming from on this.

I agree. He will likely do much better with you at home. Just don't force the medicine down his throat. He could get it in his lungs and develop pneumonia. Hurry back and bring your friend home  :)

I got a call back from them they told me he was doing fine so when they brought him to the vet for a last check up to release him to me he had a seizure I'm sad to know that because it was my first time ever to own a pet. If I do get a chin I'm def getting one from a breeder that I know the where abouts of the animal. The sad part is that I never got to name him my mom used to call him chinchillo

No they just told me he was at the vet normal how he usually is jumping around and all of a sudden he got the seizure and didn't make it. If I do decide to get a chin again I just hope it's like him it didn't take long to bond and is very playful

I'm sorry to hear that.  Before you get another one, sterilize the cage and anything he touched, just in case he had an underlying condition.  You may not find a chin exactly like him, as all chins are different.  No chin will ever replace him, but with a new chin a new friendship will be formed.  Whenever you get a new animal, take it to the vet immediately for a checkup.  Find an exotic vet with experience in chins before hand.  If you are with the next one, it may feel a little more at ease.

Good luck in your search for a new companion.

I cleaned the cage last week with 20% clorox and 80% water because I thought I was going to get him back but it turned out I wasn't. This Friday I'll get a standard by jandj chinchillas my local breeder the chin is healthy and got to see the family tree but I will miss my first one :/

Sorry I didnt reply back. This post totally disappeared from my radar.

The pain of losing the first one will never be gone.  It will diminish in time though. Have you gotten the new chin yet?
