Dusting and weighing

I have 2 questions.

1 What kind of scale do I use to weigh my kits?

2 One of my kits learned how to take a dust bath, but the other one has no idea what to do and just starts eating it. How can I teach her to take her dust bath?

They learn by example.  Most learn quick, some take longer.  Just like humans.  One of my kits would put his head in it and plow the dust, it was hillarious.  Took him 2 months to learn, now hes the most crazy duster you will see.

you need a scale that weighs in grams and is really accurate. i have a postal scale but i think people use kitchen scales too.

as for dust baths, they will learn. let mum do the work. it's hilarious to watch!

The only Problem with letting mom do the work is that they can't see her in the bath house. I put the largest bowl we have in the house in the cage too, but the mom couldnt fit in it. I guess I'll have to shop for a very big bowl.  As for postal scales, where can I find them?

I got my digi scale at JCPenny, they had a nice martha stewart cooking scale that read in grams up to the equivalent of 11 pounds.  cost me like 30 bucks, you can also get a good one at bed bath and beyond or any copy/fax store (kinkos, fedex, etc.)

i've heard of people putting sand on a towel so the babies and mum can have a go together. i tried that but it wasn't great so i just bought a large roasting tray and they learnt to have a bath in that!

postal scales - i would imagine you can get them online but they're probably quite expensive. i'm lucky that one of my friends works for a scales company and had a spare to give me!
some kitchen scales can be a little dodgy for small amounts of weight so i'd suggest you test if they weigh accurately with a chocolate bar or something :) (my kitchen scales are rubbish!)

Yay! Both kits have learned to take their baths.  i had to have Raisin in her bath house, then put the babies in a glass pie plate filled with dust.
