Ferrets?
« on: September 02, 2006, 03:41:54 PM »

We're looking for a ferret/ferrets,  If any one knows a rescue/breeder that will be great.  :::grins::     OK besides from being on chinchillaclub.com most of the time I'm studying ferrets, it's been about 2 years I've been researching them.  :o  i can't believe it's been that long!  :o   I'm getting my paycheck for modling in a few weeks the ferrets at the petstore seem nice, but almost everyone knows i dislike getting pets from petstore but i might. So  any tips will be nice!

p.s. if anyone is a fuzzbutt owner let me know! hehe

I fanilly found an ad!  :::grins::     Its for 3 ferrets, a cage, And tons of toys all for 250$!   :o   That's cheap and the reason they can't keep them is because they're moving and the condo won't let them take the ferrets.  :'(

I kept 2 ferrets for a friend of mine 1 time and all I know is if you don't clean that cage everyday they do not smell very good.

I know a girl that does ferret rescue here.  She is a vet assistant and knows a lot about these critters.  I just remember her teling us that ferrets are predators and of course chinchillas would be prey.  SO be very careful about having these two kinds of animals living in your house under one roof.  If a ferret ever got loose at the same time as a chin or if a ferret ever had unsupervised play and access to the chin cages things might get risky and possibly deadly for the chins.
Just a precaution!

 :doh: Do your parents understand that the ferret you want to bring in the house is a predator and that, given the chance, it will kill your chinchillas?

Yes, we all understand that she is only let out of the Cage when I am home and under my supet-vision. This was my choice and Daisy is as safe as can be.

 ::silly:: MissKitz,
   We were just concerned for your chin and for you, if Cassie (ferret) hurt Daisy(chin).  It can be a very traumatic thing to have to see, if things went wrong.  I was not fussing at you.  If you can keep Daisy safe and still have your ferret to play with, that is wonderful!
   If it were me, I would put extra little locks on each cage, just to play it safe. That way, if company comes and you are not home, no one could let them out to play together.  I kown you would not, but someone that did not know better might.   One young lady called me when one of her parent's friends gave her little chin a BBQ rib because it was begging and they did not know chinchillas are vegiterians.  The little chin died.  Sometimes you have to be able to protect them, even when you are not home ... the locks might work good for you.   ::nod::
