Hello! I have a question...
« on: August 24, 2006, 06:18:10 PM »

  ::silly:: Hey, I'm new and hello everyone! I love chinnies and I hope to be an owner of one soon, like for my b-day. I asked my mom and she says we'll see. I sure hope she does. Ok, question for all of you great chinnie owners out there :) Ok, for example. Someone says they have a Standard Gray Chinchilla and then they say (violet carrier) What is violet carrier suppose to mean?? :-\

Hello Chinnie_luver,
What that means is that one of his parents was a violet, so he carries the violet recessive gene. If you were to pair him with a violet mate, you would produce some violets, and some standards. This is the best way to breed violets, because you end up with better kits.
Hope that helps, and hope you enjoy your chin, when you get one.

::silly::Hi Chinnie_luver06,
     Maybe if you and your parents know a little more about them, that would help them decide.  ::nod::
      Here are a couple of places to look for information on the basics of chinchillas:  http://www.luvnchins.com/LuvNChinsChinchillaBooklet.html   &  http://luvnchins.com/HintsForNewChinParents.html

Yes please know every thing before you buy a chinnie, don't just get a chinnie for a preasent and throw the chinnie out if you get bored.  >:( I'm NOT saying you will but i do know people that have.  :noway:
