Back after a long time
« on: August 17, 2006, 07:46:19 AM »

Hi, fellow chinchilla lovers,

It's been about a year and a half since I was active on these forums, and my old account apparently got deleted (not surprising), but some of you may remember me. I used to be a med student in North Carolina. For the past two years, I've been doing my psychiatry residency training in Nashville, TN. Now that I'm in my third year, and things are a little less hectic, I'm hoping to be able to participate more again.

While I haven't been active in the chinchilla community, my little herd has been growing. My single breeding pair has had three litters in 2 years, and beautiful babies they are! I hope to have new pics to post soon.

Glad to be back,
Katie

::silly:: Good to see you back!

All the accounts got "deleted" ... not really, it's called a super bad worm and/or virus infestation on the net and loosing everything that took over 5 years to build ... now, we're rebuilding!   ::)

You are in my old stomping grounds, I was born in Madison County, TN and still have family living in Nashville and the surrounding area.

;) Hi there Katiew,  Welcome Back!!!!

Hey, we have something in common too!  My husband & I lived in Chapel Hill for a few years while he did his cardiac anesthesia residency and one of his fellowships at DUMC.  We had several friends doing their residencies at UNC.  He did an internship and second fellowship at Pitt.   Wow, psychiatry!  What a great field.   And you are in your 3rd year, congratulations!!!  I know what it's like during those years of training believe me.   We have been married 22 years now and I was with him the entire way.  Some days I want to still pulll out my hair   ::pull hair::
Are you done after your 4th year?

Very nice to meet you!

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

So, I said my life was less hectic now, and I guess that's a relative thing. I've been meaning to post those pics for about 2 months.

I've got more big news meaning big changes for my little family. I'm pregnant with my first baby. So much for life being "less hectic"!

What that means is that I am going to have to sell some (most) of my chinchillas. Up till now, I did end up keeping all the babies, mainly because it's been hard for me to get to shows to sell them. But I really don't have that luxury anymore. The chin room has to be converted to a nursery.

Here's what I will have for sale (all standard, all from Shoots' male): 1 male and 2 females who are 1.5 years old, 1 male and 2 females who are 7 months old, 1 male and 1 female who are 3 months old. I really will post those pics soon, and then if you're interested in any of the animals, please email me at katie.wilson@vanderbilt.edu. I also plan to build a website soon, and it will have more details and more pics.

Congratulation Katiew.
How exciting.
Seems to be so much of it going around this year. ;D
My Daughter is expecting her first in Feb.
So sad you have to give up your chins though. That will be hard I'm sure.

I'm pregnant with my first baby.

::clapp::  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  ::clapp::
I think chinchillas would make a great nursery theme...  And I'm sure they wouldn't mind sharing a cage with your new furless little one, when the time comes.   ;)

I am sad to have to sell the chins. I am planning to bring 10 of them to the show in Rock Hill, SC this weekend, so any of you who will be there, I will see you there!

Hi Katie:

I am new here.  I just signed myself and my stepdaughter up.  We are the proud parents of an albino ebony and a mosaic, who I believe is pregnant.  I had 8 chinchillas in the past.  The Mom liked to have babies....but I don't remember the signs of pregnancy.  If you know any, could you please fill me in?  She is getting fatter, but that's not always a good indication.

Thanks
Rachel
