So I recently moved back to my parents house. I broke up with my bf  so sad. Anyways I have them in my bedroom and i got woken up one night to my one chin, pogo chewing on the wire. I thought he was trying to get the card board i had attached to the back of the cage to try to get there stuff in. So i ended up taking that off. I also bought new chew toys. He stopped doing it for a few nights. He did it again last night. Its really annoying. I also know that they shouldn't be chewing on the wire. Is there a way i can get them to stop? Should i rub vinegar on it? Thanks! Smiley

Thats been happening to one of my chin boys also! What to do? Why do they do it? I put those attachable lava pumice rock things beside where he is already chewing the cage wire. Anyone have any ideas as to Why? Or how better to stop them from doing it? Pleeeze....................

Chinchillas will be chinchillas and they chew on EVERYTHING.  I have noticed mine chew the bars most when I am feeding or treating.  The ones I haven't gotten to yet will start to do that.  The ones that are my kid's pets and get out to play do it when they want attention.

yeah, i'd like to know what to do... I don.t want to have to end up putting my chins in the bacement. They didn't chew on it last night! The way my cage is set up i can put those lava things there. But that is a good idea.

my noel loves to chew on the bars.. i thought she just wanted out.. so tonight when she was out, she jumped back in her cage and started to chew the bars again.....usually when shes' out she doesn't go back in to chew, she'll jump in and then back out...   Undecided  who knows when it comes to them!!!
