::silly::   Hi!  Welcome to the Chinchilla Club Forum!

::think::  I'm afraid to ask, but ... Would having two happy cats have something to do with two chinchillas that are not happy?   ::scaredspeachless::

Are the chins both female or both male or one of each?

It's often hard to introduce a new chin to one that has been there a long time ... the green eyed jealousy monster kicks in when their attention has to be shared with a new one ... and or ... there could be a personality conflict there also.

Keep us posted!

Hi, and welcome!

Have you placed them in cages side by side so they can get used to each other?

teehehe.  the cats don't like the chins actually. they're more interested in the squirrels and birds outside.
they're both ladies

when i first brought kricket home- she was quarantined for a month downstairs and monkey was upstairs.  then i moved kricket to the other side of monkeys room.  i slowly moved the cages closer and closer until they were right next to each other- but kricket tries to attack thru the bars.  now we live in a small apartment.  so i divided monkeys cage into a top and bottom and they both live in there divided by a solid sheet of wood.

They have to be able to sniff and see each other.  Supervised play time outside of the cage could be tried too.  Your older chin may be too bonded to you to share your attention.  Very real chance a happy couple may never happen.   ::cry222:::

Good Luck!!

I find it so much easier introducing a kit to an older chin. Once they get to 6 months or so they are their own chins then, and they all want to be boss. ::nod::

Your doing all the right things, trying all the tricks, just keep trying. You never know, one of these days out of the blue they may decide being friends might be a good thing. I've seen that happen.
But there is a chance and a good one that they will never get along, at nine, he's used to being alone/top dog! ::nod::
