:-\Hello everyone--I was always taught that there are no stupid questions & I always tell my buyers that.....but for some reason I am about to ask a stupid question ( I think)  ::think::
Is there such a mutation as a TOV Standard??  Thanks--JANE

Hi Jane,
Not really.  A TOV standard would be what we call a Black Velvet.  However, I have seen some very poorly veiled Black Velvets that do look like a dark standard because the "mask" doesn't come down far on the face and the veiling down the sides is almost non-existent.

No such thing as a stupid question, and some refere to colors differently.
More for description than true colors.

TOV standard would be the same thing as a Black Velvet. Black velvets are just called blacks in shows

Thanks everyone--guess it's a little clearer to me now.  I knew that what I was thinking about should be a black velvet, but like Jamie said it just didn't look like a "nice" black velvet, so it confused me.  Am I confusing you?  Anyways, I didn't know they were called blacks either.  And people do call the different colors by different names......I'll get it.     Thanks a bunch--JANE

No problem there are so many different names out there It can easily be confusing. especially with all the mixed mutations

Was one of his parents a TOV?  You can get a nice dark standard from dark parents that can look black across the back.  I had some beautiful dark standards from my Shoots lines that could appear almost black velvet if you didn't know.  They wouldn't have the dark mask of a TOV though.

Honestly i don't know he isn't one of my breeding chins since i saved him from a pet store but i've never seen that petstore carry anything but standards so it is hard to say i can def. tell him apart from my two standards though because of his black streak
